So here's what I want to do, but I don't know if it's possible.

I wanted to use vmix to create a chroma key scoreboard that I can input into my tricaster. How do I go about:

1) making a chroma key output?

i think the easiest way would be to use the vmix scoreboard option and put it as an overlay over a green screen. Just klick on Add Input and insert the color green. Put the Color in the output window and put the scoreboard on Overlay 1. That should be working for you.
