You might also want to check vMix YouTube channel which contains hundreds of tutorials about each and every feature in vMix

Both are pretty much mandatory if you want to understand what you're doing

To give you a hint, I'd say each and every button in vMix will display a quick indication of what's it's there for simply with a mouse hover... Start with those in the audio section, some are activated, some are not... Check what happens when you switch from one input to another... You should see changes...

It can be somewhat overwhelming when first "learning the ropes" of vMix, so to speak, but 95% percent of the time, there is a way to do whatever it is you want vMix to do.
In this case, it is the "Automatically mix audio" feature or tic box (also the "double arrow" button in the vMix Audio mixer).
Essentially, when this is enabled, it means the "Audio follows Video" or is only LIVE when the Video is LIVE. When it is disabled, you have full manual control of the Audio, meaning you can turn it ON or OFF at anytime regardless of what is on screen.

Just want to make sure I understand. You are streaming a workout video with a sound track so to speak? I have one idea that may work.

Download the app "NDI HX Capture". There is an IOS app, not sure about android. It will capture screen plus audio from your ipad or iphone.

Then add an input for NDI/desktop capture. Uncheck the automatically mix audio box. That means the audio from this input will not stop if it's not the current input.

Find an IOS app that will play your song list. Not sure about Canada, but in the states you have to be careful about streaming copyrighted material.

You would then control your playlist from the ipad/iphone.

I am sure there are a ton of other ways to do this as well.
