If any of you are using ip cameras, are you using a router and how many cameras are you using. Are you on a laptop or desktop style PC.

Thanks for any info.

well, you need a network switch to connect all cams together and to pc. I am using a 5 ip cam setup + 2 cams connected via Intensity Pro. My ip cams are positioned around a race track and connected via 5.8ghz wifi. I am using high end desktop but a fast laptop could do the same , in fact i am going to buy a laptop as backup.
thanks 2 users thanked thepelell for this useful post.

Do you know if using a GoPro camera over wireless would work with vmix? I am not sure what protocol it uses. Anyone have any experience or heard anything about the GoPro's with wireless?

It does not work directly.

I did a livestream of a parade today using a GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition. I connected to the GoPro through WiFi and connected to uStream through a wired connection.

Since VMIX doesn't directly support the live stream FROM the GoPro, I had to do it as a screen cap. Not ideal, but it worked.

It would be GREAT if they would add the GoPro MP4 stream as a valid source.

I have the Hero3 Silver and a StarTech.com ExpressCard HDMI Audio Video Capture Card (1080p). I have hooked the GoPro camera to it using the HDMI cable. It finds the camera, but it doesn't display the full screen and it shows data information on the screen. Not sure if it's just not supported fully.

You could try upgrading the GoPro software (sometimes makes it worse however), also try various frame rates and resolutions. Making sure you are matching both ends. Sometimes plugging the GoPro into a TV which displays the input resolution helps. Eg: some tvs (not all) show 1080p60 or 1080i50 etc when you first hook up an input

GoPro has been very difficult to get working with Black Magic Equipment for me, but worked ok on Magewell (I did get GoPros working on Black Magic one day, not the next I swear I changed nothing but firmware on the GoPro). I have no idea about StarTech.

Magewell equipment seems to have an video scaler built in, so generally have less problems getting a signal. They will mostly "make" the source match whatever you set in Vmix as what is coming in.

While I don't have the answer, maybe the trouble shooting tips will get you closer to an answer.
