richardgatarski wrote:Been a dare devil this week and used v13.0.0.104 in a few real productions last week. On mistake we made many times was to start External instead of Streamer. I suggest that the buttons (bottom part of main window) would rather be labeled as:
[Setup][RECORD], [Setup][EXTERNAL], [Setup][STREAM] (where former buttons Start is RECORD, EXTERNAL, STREAM) Anything helps to avoid confusions and mistakes during live production has my vote .. :)

vMix Preview 13.0.0.125 is now available for downloadhttp://www.vmix.com.au/download/vmix13preview.exeThis is a release candidate which means we are only a few days away from the final release. Changes/Fixes* A cog icon has been added to the Output preview bar which allows users to switch to previewing the Recording and External Outputs if they have a different output or overlay setup configured. * Fixed REC/EXT/STREAM icons underneath Output preview. These provide an at a glance notification of what is currently running and should help with problems of forgetting to click start, or starting the wrong output. * Some fixes to PlayList including preserving items in the PlayList when they are re-configured. * PlayList can be run in Manual Mode which allows users to cycle through each item manually by clicking Next. * Additional audio smoothing added to reduce clicks and pops when the audio source drops samples. * Fixed MP4 recording not working with Audio unticked * Added orange Solo icon underneath Output preview when Solo is in use. * Fixed Stop streaming working even if locked * Installer includes a demo UV map virtual set provided by http://www.virtualsetworks.com/Regards, Martin vMix

Hello Martin,
I am not sure if this is a .125 behavior or it was the same in the previous versions.
When an input is "Solo" selected that de-select any other "Solo".
The hardware solution (audio mixers) allow multiple channels to be selected as "solo".
Is this the way you wanted to be, Martin ?

I think the lock button should only prevent clicking a button by mistake and not when a trigger is set in an input e.g. to stop recording.

I really appreciate the import/export Title presets, and the added warning when Clear is clicked. Also noticed that the .csv file needs to be in utf-8 for national characters to work (please consider making a note about that in the help file). What about my proposal to change the "Cut" button on Inputs to "Preview" (or "Prvw") if the right-click has been set to anything else than Cut? As it is now there is no way to Preview that input, unless right-click is changed back. admin wrote:* A cog icon has been added to the Output preview bar which allows users to switch to previewing the Recording and External Outputs if they have a different output or overlay setup configured. Maybe this should be supplemented by spelling out what is actually previewed (eg "External 1"). admin wrote:* Fixed REC/EXT/STREAM icons underneath Output preview. These provide an at a glance notification of what is currently running and should help with problems of forgetting to click start, or starting the wrong output. I strongly believe this is not sufficient, perhaps even worse from a UX perspective. Clicking a button labelled "Start", seeing it turn green and checking that another "icon" shows the text "STREAM" in red confuses even the most relaxed person. Not to mention anyone operating a complex vMix setting in a hectic environment. vMix is by definition (extremely high functionality) a complex application. Having two different (looking) indicators showing the same thing does not seem to me as a good idea. I am equally reluctant to having a button labeled "Recording" actually meaning "Setup recording". Just my thoughts, open for alternative minds :)

The labelling of the buttons has a lot to do with being able to fit them all on a display that for many users is only 1280 pixels wide.
Perhaps as a compromise, I can set both the Recording/Streaming/External and Start/Stop buttons to turn red when running to match the colour of the indicator icons.

If all goes well the final release will be out soon. How about using the cog wheel icon (below "[C]") to replace "Setup". Takes less space, and gives bottom row: [C][Record], [C][External], [C][Stream], [C][PlayList], [C][MultiCorder] This would follow the convention for most other elements of the main window. That is, cog wheels are used for setting things up and text buttons act/start (eg Fullscren or Cut). "Overlay" could perhaps be changed to an icon instead of a text button. I kind of like the visual indicators under Output for REC/EXT/STREAM, but please keep them in that order as this is what they eye expects from the button's order. Now the are ordered after when the corresponding function is started. Matching color (red OR green) is definitely best. Then it is an open question if they should be green or red. People used to (live) video production/switching might consider red to be the right choice. On the other hand red is a warning signal, logical for "On air" but not for something indicating "this thing is good". Personally I would prefer green, but I guess most other users would vote for red - so go for red.

Like this? I was hesitant to make these changes this close to release, but if everybody is in agreement that this makes things easier, better now than later.

admin wrote:vMix 13 Preview (13.0.0.90 Beta) is here! * Custom Mouse Click action can be set in Input Settings
Does no one except me need to preview Inputs that has Click action set to anything else than Cut? Please forgive me for bumping this again, but no one has commented my suggestion to replace the "Cut" button in Inputs with "Prvw" if the click action is changed. v13 is soon to be released, many users have asked for alternative click actions and I am afraid that they will really miss the possibility to preview.

I typically set up shortcut keys for Preview, so at this point I would rather have the cut button remain. In the absence of shortcut keys assigned to preview inputs, your request would make sense. I however prefer to always have s cut function available directly from an input.
My 2 cents
