See:- Recording System Audio in the Audio section of the vMix Knowledge Base.

Fair point, although I've not personally come across any computers in the last decade on which it didn't work. It's a software audio mixer that becomes the default audio device on the computer. It lets you route sounds from the system in/out of vMix in a more flexible manner.
