I had something similar happen during my early testing but then wasn't able to reproduce it. One thing to consider is that the window you want must not be minimized... though it can be hidden behind other windows.

corporatejames wrote:...is it possible to have Alpha channel from External2 output via NDI using Vmix? I tested last night with scoreboard titles etc on the laptop and use them as a overlay on the main computer but get a black background. Which I understand but not sure if can be done. Well, James' question made me check how alpha from vMix works together with NDI. What I found is that vMix Output has no alpha (ie always a black background) when sending to NDI. Tried just outputting an Input with a Title, a png with transparency, and a .mov with alpha channel. I did also try with Settings/Outputs Recording/External to Input, and the Input with the transparent (Title/png/mov). Still no alpha... Unfortunately I have no camera source with alpha that I can try with.

Yup, changing Output format to ARGB32 did it. A few notes: - Output format change is an "Advanced setting" (so first I did not find it ;). - After Output format is changed, one must MANUALLY re-start vMix to make it effective. - Since "certain features in vMix such as Recording may not work as expected when ARGB32 is enabled" it would be helpful if the help had some info on what might not work. And really wonderful if it was possible to specify External 2 output format separetely. Thanks!

Hi Richard,
Basically any other types of output besides NDI such as output to blackmagic or aja cards and even streaming and recording are "not supported" when setting the output format to ARGB32. (As in they *might* work but if they don't then we won't be able to fix it)
It should only be used where you want vMix to be a dedicated title generator for example and not used for anything else. It would be too time consuming to test everything for what is in truth a feature very few will use.
Regards,
Martin vMix

Change from milliseconds to seconds
In triggers: it would be great to change the option from milliseconds to seconds, so there would be greater scope of work, including minutes could use for triggers
also lack the option {title} for the title of the current track

Hi Martin,
This NDI video is just fantastic, it really opens a lot of doors that have previously been shut.
One question... What will the syntax look like when using the AddInput shortcut for NDI and Web Browser sources? Maybe something like: Function=AddInput&Value=Browser|www.google.com

VjMikey wrote:hello,
i have now worked with the ndi on a other macbook. Screen looks perfect but the audio on that ndi source is the microfone. But i need the speaker output on my vmix.
greets mike I have the same problem with the latest vMix17 Beta and the latest DesktopCaptureNDI for mac. Running the latest OSX El Capitan. Tried it on both a Retina MacBook Pro 15" (mid2012) and a 13" (mid2015). Actually I get the sound from my source (for example a youtube video playing in the browser on the laptop), but the internal microphone is also on all the time. Also the audiolevel always follows the speaker level which forces you to have loud levels on the internal speakers, otherwise you get no sound over NDI. Is there something I missed regarding Desktop Capture for mac?

When 'Automatically Pause Preview Input after Transition' is unchecked in Settings, videos still pause when placed into preview from program.

If you uncheck this in settings then this will only apply to new inputs added, not to inputs already running or in presets as these have their own individual check box in Input Settings which was set based on the main setting at the time it was added.

Possible NDI Bug
I have two VMIX systems. On System one I have a Decklink input being driven by a SDI 720 x 576i Full Height Anamorphic Source - and thus is auto detected as NORMAL. I am then forcing the Aspect Ratio on this input to Widescreen to Force the correct rendering. I am sending that output (along with my other sources) as NDI to a second system.
The second system is detecting the input as 'Widescreen' but is only displaying it as its original FHA frame within a 4:3 area. No matter what I set the Aspect Ratio to on the NDI input I just get the same (apart from Anamorphic - which just squashes it a bit within the 4:3 frame).
I guess the NDI equivalent of the WSS (widescreen switching signal) needs to reflect the TRUE (detected) state of the SDI input, and not the 'modified state' selected by the Aspect Ratio drop down on the input system.
All the Best
Keith

What is the maximum video quality supported by NDI in vMix now? 1080@50i and 720@25p or is it 4K too?

vMix 17.0.0.72 is now available
Please use the download link at the start of this thread.
Changes and Fixes
* MIDI value support added. This means shortcuts can now be assigned to a specific velocity value. Useful for knobs that send a single value for left and right.
* += and -= can now be used in the shortcuts value to increase/decrease volume functions.
* Added a "Mouse Enabled" checkbox to the web browser right click menu to enable/disable using the mouse on screen.
* Fixed aspect ratio bug with NDI where the Aspect Ratio dropdown box was not changing when switched to a manual aspect ratio.

It looks like we will release the vMix 17 beta to the public this week, so .72 should be considered as a "release candidate". So if you have any bugs to report please let us know in this thread.
It's been a much shorter beta this time around as we have been testing things internally for quite some time (and done quite a few live shows with 17 already!) so hopefully 17 is good to go.

Martin vMix

Desktop capture:
League of Legends and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive doesn't work as DirectX Capture(?)
New vMix can't find classic Desktop Capture sources anymore? We used this one for low latency audio capture, old one were lower latency than NDI
General:
Multiview - Multiview within multiview only crops the original input
e.g. Input with .png bug as multiview 1 is set as multiview on input 2. Go to input 2 setting and crop its multiview overlay, does not crop the bug.
Other than that, love the new stuff!
PS: Tried NDI over VPN, 720p30 flawless, top notch quality at sub 10mbps one way.
