Hi guys, I have HXRMC2500 camcoder, i need to send sdi output over fiber, i was looking for cheap and robust(not "alibaba com" level) fiber extender, so i found this sdi over fiber extender for $350, but i want to make sure - are they compatible with Sony HXRMC2500? Thank you :)

Noticed your camera specs doesn't have an SDI port.. but has a HDMI port..

So to answer your question, NO it will not work...

Camplex CMX-HDMIF HDMI to Fiber Optic Converter / Extender

http://www.markertek.com/product/cmx-hdmif/camplex-cmx-hdmif-hdmi-to-fiber-optic-converter-extender

or you can use the Blackmagic Micro Converters $85 each for (2x $85) $170
and depending on resolution you can run cable from 393ft to 2791ft... with
Belden cable.

@ johngoforth

I'm not so sure that camera has SDI out...
"1 x HDMI
1 x Composite on BNC female
1 x Analog Audio on 2 x RCA female"
according to B&H.
So you will likely need to convert from HDMI with something like this:

Please note, I have no experience or expertise with this, it's only what I've gleaned.

@desmar

Thanks for the Belden PDF on cable run lengths. Read that blog previously, but the chart is very small and bad res.

@johngoforth

Before you dive into SDI or HDMI over fiber check out how much the fiber cable costs. The Camplex Tactical fiber reels cost more that the Camplex CMX-HDMIF HDMI to Fiber Optic Converter/Extender kit.
