I just bought the Tascam Model 12 sound console. I have installed the software, driver and firmware updater.
I have added all the audio channels of the Tascam to VMIX and it has recognized them independently, this is what I needed but the problem is that if I raise the fader of input 1 of the Tascam it does not increase the volume on audio input 1 of VMIX.
The gain knob for each channel does work correctly, when I turn it up on the Tascam it raises the volume level on the VMIX.
If I press the Mute key on channel 1 on the Tascam, the sound on channel 1 on VMIX is not cut.
Is there a way that if I raise the fader on the Tascam, it will also raise the volume level in VMIX?
Thank you.

According to the manual at https://www.tascam.eu/en...Model12_OM_EFS_RevF.pdf, "Selecting the positions that recording signals are sent from each channel", you can set the USB send point to Pre Compressor, Post Compressor or Post EQ. For what you want to do, you would need to set it to Post Fader, but the mixer doesn't support it.

In the manual I have seen the following:

******
AUX2/FX knobs (1-6, 7/8-9/10)
Use to adjust the levels of the signals sent to the AUX2/FX bus (POST FADER)
******
POST FADER
The signal is sent to the AUX 1 bus after adjustment by the channel fader.
******

AUX usually refers to the analog outputs of the mixer. If you want to use the faders and have an effect in vMix, you would probably have to use the Master output via USB in vMix (select Input 11&12 in vMix). Or maybe write to Tascam support, and ask if it is possible to set the USB send point to "Post Fader".

I'm not aware of any mixer that provides individual audio inputs without ASIO, nor am I aware of any mixer that uses ASIO for that post-fader.

FWIW, the Behringer XR18 allows to set it to post fader (or any other stage of the chain) for each audio input.

I checked with Tascam wether there has been an update to this, unfortunately the model 12 doesn't seem to be as flexible as it should be to properly use it with vmix:

Quote:
The Model 12 has 2 USB modes when using it as an audio interface: Multi and Mix. Multi sends each input separately to a channel over USB to be recorded to their own track within a DAW, this mode is best for recording to a DAW like Pro Tools, Cubase, Logic for creating music. Multi Mode makes the Model 12 a 12 in/10 out audio interface, 10 input channels and a stereo mix for 12 total inputs to your software. The inputs in that mode would be pre-fader but could be post EQ. Mix mode is best for streaming and makes the audio interface a 2 in 2 out audio interface and is fed form the Main mix, so any channels you send to the Main will be sent out over USB to your stream post fader.

The XR18 or the X32 are still the best mixers for vmix with their asio integration then i guess? I'd love to have a x32 in a smaller form factor but with physical faders.

I'm not at all surprised that they have no intention of changing that behavior, and I feel your characterization is unfair, given that it's generally the standard to reduce processing (a stated goal of ASIO), especially at that price point.

If, for whatever reason, you need an interface with that functionality, then you need an interface with that functionality.

But you're talking about spending potentially thousands of dollars to get a device that's massively overkill and could be easily replaced by simply controlling your pre-fader audio within vMix.

I'm not you, and can't tell you what to do or not do. Nor do I fully know/understand your usecase.

But, if it were me, I could think of a far better way to spend my money than buying a full blown mixer for hundreds/thousands of dollars when I can simply take the gear I already have, set the gain to an appropriate level at unity, then supplement it with a $70 X Touch Mini to control the faders and mute functionality within vMix itself.

That's also not a hypothetical--I literally did exactly that.

Although, after a fair amount of time, I found the Stream Deck+ to be far more versatile and a worthy upgrade over the X Touch Mini, especially once I discovered that powering it with the Companion plugin, rather than vMix, allowed me to use 100% of the screen real estate of the LED touch bar.
