Been doing some more testing and have a few more questions:

I am thinking of using MPEG-2 for the local file recording. With Wirecast, I have always used x.264 because that was the profile use to stream. Using MPEG-2 results in a MUCH larger file and since our show normally last about 1 hours and can have as much as 1 more hour (total 2 hours) of pre & post show discussions, the file is going to be HUGE. A 30 minute recording I did as a test resulted in a 2GB file. Assuming the same holds true for the 2 hours, I would end up with a 8GB file.

1. How often do split the file during recording? Any issues with bringing these together later, like a noticeable skip?

2. Wirecast files caused audio/video sync issues if edited in Adobe Premiere Pro due to the variable frame rate, which may be more of a Adobe issue. Does using the TS name vs the MPG name make any difference? I know it says TS is better for editing, but how is it better?

3. Should I even be using MPEG-2 for the local file recording?

I am running the latest version of Premiere Pro which I think is CC2014.

I am going to test this myself, but I would love to hear from someone who has done this a good bit already. If I have about a 2 hour recording time, record in MPEG-2 and have a new file created every 30 minutes, is the results dependable? Meaning, no issues with the split and I don't end up with one of the 4 files being corrupt? Of course if I had everything in one file and it was corrupt then I would have nothing, but the show is pretty much lost if 1 of the 4 files is corrupt also. Corrupt files is not something I have a lot, in fact, in all my Wirecast broadcast, I have never had a single corrupt file. Guess I am just a bit paranoid about the program creating new files during the broadcast that I need to splice together later.
