We are trying to use a Panasonic DVD player as an input in VMix via HDMI cable into an Intensity Pro. We only get a black screen. We have turned off all "auto" settings on the DVD player and have tried several different configurations in VMix regarding the video format, frame rate, etc. We can successfully add a DVD input from the computer DVD player, but not the external DVD player.
Any suggestions?

just put the dvb in your pc's dvd player?
you can use it as a "input" in vmix
wy a need to a external one? ( no time to swap the discs? ) 2e dvd in your pc ?

I am now trying to add a DVD as an input into vMix. I tried this on my laptop and on my desktop and both gave me an error message. See the attached message. The DVD I have in for testing is a DVD Movie "Lord of the Rings". Not that it matters but just letting you know that is the DVD. It is DVD and not bluray. Can anyone give me any insight on what I need to do in order to add the DVD as an input. I am actually setting up my vMix to handle media presentation (not streaming) for a kids group. I will be mixing a DVD presentation, some Youtube videos, PowerPoint presentation, and maybe some other things. I am good with everything except the DVD input. Thanks for any help! I should note that the DVD itself plays fine. It is just when I try to use the Add Input > DVD function in vMix that I get the error in vMix. My laptop is running 15.74 64bit and the PC from which the screenshot came is running 15.73 64bit.

I think it's required for Windows 8 because of the missing MPEG-2 support without Media Center. I thought it was only required for recording but who knows... Just tested playing a DVD in vMix and it's working fine on my system with Windows 8.1 with Media Canter.

Updating original post instead of adding another one. I had to install this: http://www.ac3filter.net/wiki/Download_AC3FilterAnd now sound is there. You have to set the audio decoder to AC3. Hopefully this will help others who run into the same problem.

I am running into this error.
I have not installed Windows Media Center as this system already has quite a few Video applications and I am concerned about issues.
So the question is with Windows 10 is this issue moot as Windows Media Center does not exist in the new OS.
I am on Win 8.1 right now.
I do have a DVD player installed and the DVD does play on the system.
I did install the Audio driver except that did not clear up the 'MPEG-2 Decoder' issue that WMC resolves.
Any suggestions on what Codec or other software I might need instead of WMC?

I had similar issues with DVDs both with vMix and another program....solved that by putting the DVD in the Drive, copy the TS files, and made an AVI file with my editor, and never had a problem since....when I am asked to play DVDs in anything I am doing, I simply convert to .avi, or quicktime files........

You're far better of ripping the DVD to media files that vMix can handle from disk.
