Hello

First post, newbie to Vmix and streaming so forgive if questions are basic.

My system specs:

Intel i7-4770 @ 3.4ghz
Windows 8.1 64 bit
8gb RAM
Nvidia GeForce GT635 w/2gb memory

Capture device - Blackmagic intensity pro

Running latest vMix (13.0.0.142)

Installed flash media live encoder (FMLE) 3.2

I've installed all the latest drivers for graphic and capture card

My issue:

Scenario - I open vMix preset with Blackmagic (camera) as input one and a preproduced video as input 2. I click "stream".

Then I open FMLE. All looks good up to this point

After a few minutes of streaming, the "camera" input locks up. I close vMix and computer blue screens on me (bsod).

Happens consistently and every time.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Jeff

@ anderson

You may have to "isolate" the problem through a process of elimination, but it sounds like a capture card conflict somewhere.
What are all your settings in the chain (inputs through to intensity pro settings, vMix settings and FMLE settings)?
Was this found in preliminary testing or a relatively new "issue" in your streaming experience? (any hardware or software additions since you last streamed etc.)
Are there any error messages or can you look at the log file?
How does vMix behave without streaming?
With just video input?
With just camera input?
Can you stream anything (videos or a web cam) from vMix for more than a few minutes?
When you say "the 'camera' input locks up" what does that mean?
Is vMix operational otherwise?
Have you tried to "reset" the input prior to shutting down?
Have you monitored your CPU cores and memory with Task Manager?
Is one or more cores maxing out?

I know it can be very frustrating when things don't work as they should, and your specs look pretty good but something is not keeping up somewhere in the chain, so the more info you can relay, the better able the community will be at helping you solve your issue.

One thing to keep in mind, blue screen errors can only be caused by either faulty drivers or faulty hardware.
This means the intensity card may be faulty or not compatible with your system unfortunately.

Try updating to the latest intensity pro drivers, if that doesn't work try installing it into a different slot on the motherboard.

There is also a smaller chance of faulty memory. This is harder to diagnose, but it usually results
in "random" behaviour such as random blue screen errors or unexplainable error messages in vMix.

Thanks for the response. When the system gives me a BSOD, I get the message PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

Here's my settings as best as I can provide:

First, in the BLACKMAGIC DESIGN CONTROL PANEL -
Set Output: HDMI & composite & s-video
Set input: Composite Video (y in) & analog RCA audio (I am running a composite SD signal)
Set default video standard as: NTSC (I'm in the states)
Select output processing: off
Select input processing: off

Next, FMLE -

=======================================================

Hopefully this is enough information to be helpful in finding a solution (perhaps too much info).

vMix will still lock up without streaming but it takes a little longer.
This is a new computer and setup - issue has been there since the beginning.
I appears just the "camera" (blackmagic) input is the only one with problems. Source video (MP4) with title overlays, etc - no problems.
I cannot stream for more than just a few minutes.
When I said the camera input locks up - in other words, in the output window, it acts like a freeze frame (like it captured one frame of video) and then will not work. Closing vMix at this point send me to the beloved blue screen of death (with the error PFN_LIST_CORRUPT.
Not sure how to reset input prior to shutting down.
I have not monitored CPU cores/memory but will try that next.

Sorry for the lengthy post. I've been a video producer for nearly 30 years but have not worked with streaming video until this project. Nothing like being an old newbie.
Any help is certainly appreciated.

Best, Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Can you try streaming with vMix without the intensity pro plugged in and report if you still have the same issue?
If it runs fine then it is likely the card is faulty or not compatible with that particular system.

Martin

Well I uninstalled the Blackmagic Intensity Pro card, dropped a few short videos into vMix, streamed it for a few minutes...no issues. So obviously there's an issue with the capture card drivers or perhaps the card itself. Unfortunately I purchased it nearly 2 months ago so likely I won't be able to return it if needed. I'll reinstall the card and see if that works.

Maybe not applicable here but check out the cable to the card from the camera too.
Had an issue myself recently to a point I also thought the card was fried or even the camera itself. Turned out to be a cable extention connector.
