Hi guys, I'm new so please forgive my little to no knowledge.
Right now my vmix setup has 2 Camera inputs, both at 1080p30 and i record 1080p30f in mp4 8bits. the results are pretty good but I'm looking to increase the video quality.
My question: will the video quality be better if i add a 4k video camera input (rather than 1080p) but continue to record in vmix as 1080p30f (because of file size!) Or would it be almost the same as what i have now since i record in 1080p anyway.

1080p30 @ 8Mbits is good for streaming but for recording you should increase the bitrate for example at 16 or 25 or even 32 Mbits when working with the MP4 container.

You might also try other containers like ProRes or VC3 which are intermediate codecs/containers (semi pro) and can provide better quality.

But first check the doc and do a lot of tests to get to the point where you are satisfied

Thanks will try a much higher bitrate then. When I increased it previously the quality/ file size ratio wasn't beneficial for my work (tried 10, 12, and 16 before). I usually record it on my computer then upload it from my office as my church has no internet connection avaialable to stream or upload.

I tried the different suggestions given before. Avi settings wasn't realistic for me as the file sizes are huge. The FFMPEG/mpg2 with video bitrate set to 50m caused my computer to slow down and I started to have audio latency issues to the point that the audio was totally out of sync with the video (a few seconds; with the gap increasing as the video progressed). The others wasn't that great either.... I found the best for my needs is the mp4 container.

I thought I'd ask if someone has experienced if a better incoming life video feed (4k 4:2:2 8bit) would let me record with my previous settings and still get better quality.
