Chromakey green or blue is preferred for a number of specific reasons, but the answer to your question is you can chromakey any color. However be awar that you will remove all of that particular shade from your image (background and foreground) so there may be unintended consequences in background images, your talent's clothing color and most importantly their skin tones. It doesn't cost anything but time to experiment, but industry standards tend to be standards for good reasons.
