IMG_2391.JPG (2,067kb) downloaded 17 time(s).Thanks again for your time! Yes, am using the app as a stand alone product. We are using vMix in a couple of ways. One as it's intended as a stream/recording unit but the other we are trying to find a good reliable and maintained platform for running music, video and images in a theatre. Yes we can use something like QLab but as we already hold a license for vMix, we just want to try and see if this will suffice. Qlab also has the same problem, a small display for times. Our lighting operator uses the time display to cue their next light state. On screen as it currently is, it's just a little too small. I love the idea of your app but just to have the "Position and Remaining" times much larger. I can then just place a laptop in front of the operator and they can easily see the times. Working in minimal light it's just easier :) EDIT - The image attached is what we currently use called MultiPlay. It's no longer produced and not reliable with current compuuters. Looking for a replacement for this.

Hey Richard, thanks for your work on this amazing tool. It's great!
But I noticed the cpu task spiking and taking 30% after a while. Is that normal? In the beginning its only a few %. I can't reproduce the cause, but its definatly happening after maybe 30min of usage. Im on a Notebook with a new Ryzen 4500U CPU, quit powerfull, so this tool shoudln't be too much to handle.
I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! Toby

Hey there!
This is truly great and has potential to be very useful to us.
One thing, when a video is triggered as an input Multiview reference item, the video plays the same as if the video input was triggered directly. Is there a way to account for this and still work?
The firm I work for has a specific work flow setup and videos are all stored on one tab (light blue) and the show flow/rundown are on the red tab. Master video files/inputs are placed in the "videos" tab and then referenced to or called by blank inputs in the Rundown/Showflow tab via the Multiview feature.
Hopefully that makes sense and might be possible.
Thanks!

@jjbutler83
Unfortunately there is currently no feedback in the API to indicate which Multiview is active on individual inputs, so this would not be possible. I must admit that your work flow is a little unusual for playing back videos using the input Multiview. When doing this, you don't get the positional information displayed in the vMix screen either. I'm sure you have a reason for this, but I prefer to use 'List' inputs when playing back several videos. That keeps the vMix desktop clean and has the advantage of displaying video information in the list (Name of video, Duration, Time Remaining etc). It also makes it compatible with third party apps like Panel Builder and TimeCode Reader.
regards, Richard

You can select "TimeCode Only" in the 'View menu' if you want to have only the Timecode showing. I will add "TopMost" in next update.

It would be very usefull to select the preview or OUT 2 as TC-Source. So i can load the source-file of a composition ( video resized on a layer) to preview and see the remain TC. Is it possible to select the TC-Source in config ?
Thanks

I'm a newbie on vMix. The app works fine, I have read the instructions to bring the remaining time to an title input, but I failed (I create a title, then text and after that I don't know what to do next. Could you explain these step by step?

@ adbit
The easiest way is to use the Timecode.gtzip title provided in the download. You can modify it as much as you like, as long as you don't change the 3 required text field names (Duration, Position, Remaining). These are the fields that are used to display the timecode. You can also add additional images or text if you wish.
Hope that helps
cheers, Richard

Hi there,
We're looking to integrate a vMix timecode onto an IP fed production clock and were wondering how you managed to pull the Timecode data out of vMix? Don't have any development background, but trying to save some time for the TD and add some QoL for the gallery.
Cheers for developing tools like this.

Short Answer: The data is available in the vMix API XML. (sort of)
Technical Answer: Once you parse the XML, you can get the Duration and Position of a video input (in milliseconds). You can calculate the Remaining time from this and then convert this data into a Time format. You also have to retrieve the active input from the XML to know which input to use to calculate the data from. You then send the data in the required format to wherever you need (display, vMix, or in your case an IP clock). There is also some networking and timing issues to deal with. Sending data to devices like IP clocks requires a good understanding of the device's interface.
You might find this a bit challenging without having any prior development/coding experience..
cheers, Richard

Hi, I find your software fantastic! I would like to ask if an addition could be made ... I think it can be useful for everyone! When we send a video in a multiview, neither in preview nor in program we have the possibility to view the timing of the video ... so it would be very interesting if we could choose which input to display the timing, in addition to the PRV and PGM ... You would change my life !!!!

UPDATE: Version v9 (see first post)
- added "Port" fields for Main and Secondary vMix IP's - added "Input" to TimeCode Source selection - changed GUI a bit to allow for changing "TC Source" or "Input" selection on the fly when in "TimeCode Only" mode
