I have been playing with the new stinger ability. The thing is sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I load in a image sequence of 30 to 60 frames and set my effect duration 1000 to 2000 depending on number of frames and select transition either cut or fade. assign the stinger to overlay 4. Then when I click overlay 4 on the image sequence module the images play on top of program out and you expect the preview to switch in and it doesn't always switch. sometimes I click the overlay 3 or 4 times before it switches. then sometimes the sequence doesn't always play through to last frame and if that happens the next time I select overlay 4 to stinger switch the leftover frames play. And it's not consistent. I'm going to capture some of this and post for review.

Can you provide some of us a step by step tutorial on how it works please? Thanks Rottimmy

Well sitting up late last night sure did help. I learned that you must have your ducks in a row for this to work properly. If you are going to use this feature then sources and stinger better be at the same frame rate. I still don't like the way stingers need to be setup. I think stingers should have there own button at the base where other transition buttons are with a right click to point at different stinger folder locations. Also I don't like the fact the stingers use up a overlay channel and prohibits this channel from being used for other overlays. If I'm wrong please let me know. @Damn2Good4U, I'll post a link to show how to setup stinger here soon. B.R.

Needing help setting up the stinger. I have been unable to find how to set it up from start to finish. I have looked in the overlay settings but only see picture in picture and full screen in the type dropdown list. Am I looking in the wrong location.

Greg, What I figured out;
setting of an overlay (say #1): Duration = time the stinger(clip) will be displayed Stinger cut point= time after which output and preview clip are switched (example half the time as duration)
use: use overlay #1 of the input you want to use as stinger clip for switching preview with output
hope this helps (in my words)

I would be really interested in help how to set up the stinger as transition! I watch this video, tried a lot, read this thread and the short description in online help… but couldn’t get it working. That’s would I tried last: - I’ve got a short clip (5 seconds) with green background I’d like to use as stinger transition. - This clip is an Input on vMix, color key is selected, as position I tried “overlay 1” or “main”. - I hit the “overlay” button and adjusted time values for “Stinger 1”. -> Each time I hit the new “Stinger 1” button I get the error, that multiple overlays are not supported in the basic version, even if there is no other overlay in use on preview, live or stinger input?! If I try the "Stinger 1" button with any other Input, without any further overlay or time adjustments, it works just like a fading transition.

I tried again… and finally I got a working setup with vMix 10 preview. I’ll try to describe what I did in my own words, maybe this helps someone else. Stinger in vMix Basic did only work as Overlay 1 on my side, it was not possible to use the “Stinger 1” button as a transition.
Stinger step-by-step:
1) Loading sources and the stinger clip as inputs 2) Make sure the options "Automatically Play with Transition" and "Automatically Restart with Transition" etc are checked. And if you want to act your stinger as overly, adjust the chroma-keying values for the stinger clip (as usual) 3) Click button “Overlay” at bottom right 4) Edit “Number 1” (not “Stinger 1”) if you use the Basic version of vMix 5) to start: type the duration of your stinger clip into the field “Duration” (if clip is 1 second long ->1000) 6) decide, when, after starting the stinger, vMix should automatically cut to the next input (500 ms would be just in the middle of a stinger clip which is 1 second) 7) Change the “Effect” if you like (this will be used to bring and take the stinger clip to output). 8) Take one input live, decide for another as preview (both usually NOT the stinger!). 9) Hit “overlay 1” button of your stinger source and vMix will show the stinger clip and cut to preview source at the specified time.
I used sources with different resolutions but all the same framerate, but didn’t try different framerates, so I can’t comment on that issue. BTW: With understandig and adjusting of the stinger values, it worked with my 5 sec clip, too!
