vMix Desktop Capture for NDI is included with the vMix 17 installer, so you can install it that way on any machine you need it on
without needing to register vMix.

Bandid62, internet access is required to activate vMix, after that internet is no longer needed to run it.

Hey vMix,
I'm like a kid in a candy store. vMix 17 is no doubt the most robust version to date.
I did a short YouTube livestream earlier tonight with vMix 17 and it performed flawlessly.
Thanks for everything you folks do.

Windows10 is reporting that the download has an invalid or corrupt signature. I have tried the download on two separate networks and two different machines. The file is deleted by default by defender. Can you check please. Andrew

I've just found a potential issue with the certificate being recognised on some systems.
I am updating the download now.

EDIT: please try downloading again now

Hi Martin,

I just tested vMix 17 with my ValueHD V60N PTZ camera (same as PTZOptics). I have got a new firmware V6.1.77T from them with slower pan/tilt speeds and it seems they have changed the speed values to 0x00 to 0xFE. The result is, with vMix 17 the pan/tilt on the highest speedsetting is still very slow. It takes around 10 seconds to move between presets (virtual inputs). FYI.

At this moment I'm testing vMix17 with the decklink quad 2 on 8 input setting.
So far I have 8 inputs running with 4 NDI outputs running to a second machine. Everything is smooth with 2 ms rendertime and 25% cpu on a Xeon 1620 with a gtx 970.

When I send out another NDI stream to the other system, the NDI streams will drop out. I don't know if this is my cabling not allowing more bandwith. I will investigate more.
Even thinking about connecting both machines with a 10gbe direct link, as the processors are showing they would allow more.

Interesting, the current range is 0x18 which means the new range is 10x higher.
If I increase the range then the slider will reach maximum speed in the first 10% on older firmware, so maybe a second PTZ plugin might be needed.

Maybe a little tickbox, or reading the firmware version from the cam (haven´t checked if that´s possible yet).

I have created my own little software for controlling this camera, that´s how I found out the range was changed. It´s actually possible to control hue, saturation, brightness and picture flip also, even though it´s undocumented.

Here´s a question (even though I should wait until after NAB, right :). Would it be possible to integrate variable speed on pan, tilt and zoom from the amount the joystick is pushed? I have some simple code for that (if you have any use of VB.NET code).

Try to install it as a trial. Maybe your one year upgrades period is expired?

Possible bug?

-Publish some video files with Newtek NDI Media Server as NDI source
-Add NDI input with one of the provided NDI sources from Newtek Media Server
-Switch NDI input to preview and cut to output

-> video is start playing -> ok

-Switch video back to preview

-> Video is stop playing -> ok

So, there seems to be some video start/stop communication on NDI.

If I try to control the video with input button "Play/Pause" nothing happens, video doesn't start/stop. There are also no controls below output window if NDI video is playing. Bug or expected behaviour?

pm,

That is all expected behaviour, actually the NDI Media Server app was from an old SDK which I believe has now been removed
so it probably won't work properly with current versions of NDI.

vMix sends tally signals to NDI sources and some of these sources may change as a result of these tallys. In the media server's this means
starting and stopping playback.

Martin Good afternoon, I'm excited about testing this new version of vMix, I have 2 questions.

1 - such is the support for DeckLink Quad card 2? I am interested in buying one and having eight video inputs.

2 - What new entries can be managed from the API? you have a list of how to add? because the documentation still remain the same. I wonder if you can already add virtual in September through the API.

Thank you so much

I can confirm the decklink quad 2 works like a charm on the vMix17 beta.
Also worth to mention, I've been torturing vMix17 for 9 hours now and no single crash. It might be closer to final than I expected it to be. ;)

If "Titler Pro Live 2" includes NDI support, I will be giving it a trial tonight with vMix 17 preview.

I'll be very interested in it's outcome.

I am especially interested in exploring how the browser input deals with webrtc-based conference services, like talky.io or Jitsi Video Bridge.

These tools are useful for panel discussions, but their utility is limited. They don't have a direct connection to a streaming service, like YouTube, so they can't be used to stage Hangout-on-air like broadcasts. They require some additional tool to feed the YouTube Live event (or any other streaming service.) This is where vMix comes in....

At the outset I can say that the browser instance used by Browser Input appears to be Chrome compatible, since both of those services load into it without issue. However, thereafter there arise some complexities.

Most WebRTC-based services rely upon a browser tool for selecting the users microphone and camera. This tools appears as a camera icon in the far right of the browser address bar. In vMix that's not available. Consequentially, the WebRTC app loads its best guess at default devices, which may not be useful. It certainly can't be changed at present.

Further, it seems that I can scroll around the page/app and use the mouse within the browser input...but there's no way to use the keyboard for text entry. That means that the browser input cannot be used for any page that requires a login.

One of the things that I hope to learn is if using a Browser Input is less resource intensive than using desktop capture. While using browser input to capture one end of a talky.io session I can see that the embedded browser instance uses about 25% of CPU on my system. That suggests that it might be a little lighter than capturing the browser external to vMix.

Michael
