I just found your VMix program and have been testing it out a bit. I currently have a competing Switcher program (VB) but am having all kinds of problems getting rid of video stuttering during capture and absolutely NO help from the creator.
So far, with VMix I hardly see any stutter/frame drops at all.
I am wondering if my system will be strong enough to handle VMix and 2 Sony FX-7 cameras connected by wire fire without creating a video stutter. I did see a few skips during tests, but they were pretty far apart, unlike the other brand.
I am hoping with your help it can be explained how those hiccups can be avoided completely.

Here are the specs of my laptop:

I have been assured by my I.T. guys this thing has plenty of power (but apparently not enough for VB).
Anyway, I am seriously considering purchasing a license, but I need to make sure I get smooth, fluid, hiccup/Stutter Free video 98% of the time.
With proper tweaking, in SD format using DV/Fire Wire outs from my camera's, is this possible... and if so, how so I can try it out for a few days before buying?
Thanks... Oh, I manage a local origination channel for the local cable company and have close to 20 thousand viewers who will see the VMix logo on every production it is used with, if we can make this software hum with the equipment I already have.

Hi, another ex-vidblaster user... welcome.

as a ex-vidblaster user i can tell you that vmix is working here about 1 year with 2 sony fx-7 firewire connected better than before.

Your laptop setup seems to be good enought to run vmix without problems.

By the way, Martin, the administrator, has been working with this excelent peace
of software. He is working hard Every day on it and his support is realy wonderful.

Hope you can be succeeded with vmix in your production. Regards,

Melody

Hi Doug,

Based on the specifications provided, both SD and HD are possible on your hardware.

The only potential issue is how the firewire cameras are connected to the laptop. Firewire cameras require a dedicated port per camera, so are you using
the inbuilt firewire port plus an expresscard adapter or some other configuration?

vMix comes with a 60 day trial to give you plenty of time to see if it works as expected.

Regards,

Martin
