Hi Everyone,

I have 2, HP Z640 workstations, one at church one at home. Due to other issues at church I have replaced the UMC404HD with an analog mixer connected to the PC via analog line in, which has solved the issues.

I brought the UMC404HD home to do some testing. Here's what I found:

Audio Source

20 Min Recording
1khz tone generator connected directly to UMC404HD input #1.

Results

AUDACITY = 20 minutes no dropouts or other issues.

vMix = Dropouts occur at the following times.

50sec
2m47s
4m43s
6m44s
8m44s
10m40s
12m39s
14m37s
16m36s
18m38s

I have attached a photo of the drop out. Each one is identical. As you can see they do not last very long, however because they are so short, they sound like pops in the audio. Audio stays in sync with video for the duration of the recording.

I have tried various power management and USB setting recommendations, but as it's recording without issue in Audacity, it seems to be a vMix only problem. Also, it is not just on the recorded file, but also during live streams as well so I assume the recording file format is not suspect.

Any help would be great.
Thanks

What version of vMix do you use?

Had the same issue for years with UMC404HD and I got rid of UMC404HD and other USB based sound systems and now using audio embedded to SDI and enabled Audio Gap Handling in the Settings.

This Audio Gap Handling setting was introduced first time in vMix 24.

I would suggest that you also turn this Audio Gap Handling On == Resample and see if the issue persist or not.

ive always had problems with umc 404hd, tried 100s of solutions (cables, computes, different ports). i always had a "click" no sound from time to time, like once every 5 minutes. it gave me alot of headache.
It was only resolved when i bought Scarllet 2i2, never had any issue, just do it

The UMC404HD was the last USB audio device I used. I still have mine, but the USB connector broke off the board, so it sits collecting dust until I can find the incentive to solder one back on.

All the USB and Firewire audio interfaces I've used seemed flawless outside of vMix, so maybe there are other factors that contribute to the issues I've had. Also, I come from a traditional broadcast background using dedicated equipment, so maybe I'm just more nit-picky than others.

Has anyone used audio interfaces with word clocks? Do they offer any benefit or is vMix limited to the internal Audio Gap Handling (Resample/Drop) options?
