Hey I do a vMix Facebook live broadcast and about 2 weeks ago I began to experience significant pauses during the broadcast and I am wondering if you have any advice...I have had IT look into it on my end and I am told that the issue is with Facebook or vMix...

It will just stop... the video....and then it will pick back up after about 6 seconds
It began happening about 2 weeks ago... I have High-speed internet 100+ it is fiber cable offered by the city I live in...
The IT people from the city have said it's not an issue on their end...I am just extremely frustrated..It is happening on the FB page "Common Sense with Tom Schmitz" I do a local access show for our local community...

stop to stream?

did you notice the streaming button turning to orange when it happens?
did you check the streaming logs?

are you sure you had no internet loss when it happened?

My show producer says the button stays a constant red during stream and no message about losing internet pops up to say we have lost the internet...
We have not checked the streaming logs... but that is something we will do today
We stream the show and record the show at the same time and the recording never has a pause just the FB live stream...

It might be an occasional fb issue either on the receiver server side or the transcoding for playout where chunks can be lost for some reason.

I guess you don't know if this loss was visible during the live broadcast. Maybe it's only on the recorded version for VOD...

If it happens again, make sure to keep and check the logs.

Are you saying that you have this very same issue everyday, each time you stream to fb since 2 weeks?

How long is your show?

Are you positive your vMix recording is good? It only happens on fb stream and you never see the streaming indicator turning orange?

That's weird!

Did you try another streaming platform like youtube or else?

You may need to lower your bitrate, or check to see if you are having a steady upload.....sounds like too high a biterate, or low bandwith.....I get the same a lot of times, as we get low bandwith where I am...

What is your upload speed? Have you done a speed test to verify what you have for an upload from your ISP? What resolution and bitrate are you streaming out with? It is weird that it does not go orange on the stream indicator sensing that there is a problem. I stream to Facebook and YouTube live simultaneously every Sunday for 2 services and record to my machine without any issues. We only have a 12MB Upload and stream at 720 x 1280 on both and they work great.

Install ping plotter and see if you are losing packets along the way to FB servers.

As of tonight we are still experiencing the issue.

It streams then it drops for 2-6 seconds then comes right back up.

The vMix recording is perfect but the Facebook Live stream is still pausing.

I am at my wits end. I have no hardware or software issues that I can see.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Thanks,
GBPCTech

I am also expericening the same thing. It seems to be about every 30 seconds dropping the stream and picking it right back up about 3 to 5 seconds later. I have great internet, and cpu is only 25 to 30 percent. So there seems to be an issue with vmix or fb live. If anyone can produce a good feed with no interruptions, please forward the version and settings you are using so I can test them. I am running a test now, and seems to only happened the first 5 min of the stream

After letting it run, and restarting I now have no problems. My guess is fb was adjusting to my settings, but when I saw the drops, I never let it run more than a couple of minutes. I am now streaming at 768x432 800kbps video and 128kbps aac audio with no issues. So if you are still having problems, just find a stream setting and let it run a test stream for a while.
