vMix is working awesomely for broadcasting live video to Facebook. The issue, or problem, I'm having is not an issue with vMix. It's an issue with Facebook. After the live video is encoded there is a problem with the video-audio sync.

Below is the link to the Facebook Live video in case you'd like to check it out.

DO NOTE: SMALL BLOOPER AT THE START OF THE VIDEO. FORGOT TO MUTE THE AUDIO ON THE LIVE FEED ON THE FACEBOOK PAGE.
THE AUDIO KEPT ECHOING BACK-GOT THAT FIXED PRETTY QUICKLY!

Yea I am seeing what you mean. Any idea how stressed your CPU was during the show?

Here is the last one we did on Facebook and we didn't seem to have any sync issues.

@ GeorgeR

Did you say you recorded for an upload to YouTube as well?
How did that turn out?
As you state, you believe the issue is with 'Facebook' encoding, the question then becomes why?
Was there any indication the audio was out of sync during the "Live" broadcast?

Can't say for sure if the Facebook broadcast video/audio was out of sync during the live portion or after Facebook encoded it for later viewing.

Yes, I recorded the video. Below is the link to the YouTube version.

EXAMPLE LIVE FACEBOOK BROADCAST WITH #vMixHD- Pendleton-Gazette Facebook Live May 27, 2016 https://youtu.be/Yce-y6f_iiQ

The YouTube video/audio is fine.

No, will have to check that. Thanks for the tip.

Tried to look at your vid but got this message on Facebook:
"Sorry, this content isn't available right now

Like you said, the YouTube version looks fine so this seems to be specific to Facebook. Can you share your streaming settings of the video you sent to Facebook? In addition to the CPU question, do you remember any upload issues while streaming to Facebook?

Of course this could just be an issue on Facebook and there was nothing you could do to prevent it, but I am hoping that is not the case because I want it to be something we can fix. :)

peg2RAW,

Stream settings (same as vMix used for their test to Facebook)

Input: 1280x720
Frame Rate:29.97
Quality: H264 720p 1.5mbps AAC 96kbps
FFMPEG

Wish I'd paid more attention to the render time and CPU during the broadcast. Doing another next Thursday. Will make a point of checking those.
Didn't notice any flashing orange from the stream button. As far as I remember it was steady red. Think I would have noticed that if it had started blinking orange.

The video stream on Facebook stream looked fine. Never noticed and issues in the video window. I checked it a couple of times during the broadcast. And the video and audio from the broadcast seem fine on facebook; it's just the sync issue.

I just reloaded the preset from the show. Had 15 inputs and 1-desktop capture from 2nd computer during the broadcast. Now recording (1280x720 MP4) + inputs currently the render time is 5-10ms. CPU 3-5%.
CPU in Task Manager 10%
Memory 3 of 16GB

Sounds like everything is good on your end. Maybe this was totally a Facebook issue. I was hoping it wasn't because that means a fix is out of our control. Hopefully Facebook is putting a lot of resources behind live video and we will see improvements.

Here it is nearly a year later and we're having the same problem. Our live stream is spot on with an NDI audio delay of 400ms but after FB renders it for later viewing the video seriously lags the audio. Actually seems more than the 400ms I had to delay it for synced stream.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Just did a live stream test on Youtube, all things being equal, no problems with sync.

We streamed more than 80 event in Facebook Live in 2016, and I never seen any sync problem during the live video, or after the VOD... really strange.

We're kind of new to vMix, Any special settings you can share?

We go live almost every day, using just a 1920x1080 preset. Depending on the uplink we choose between 1.5 and 4.5 mbps.

Nothing special, we always follow the actual Facebook parameters, you can find more information on the FB help pages. So I don't know any specal thing. It's always works "out of the box"...

Hi, Yes 2020 June.. I'm having the same problem.

Anyone solve this?

Live stream is in sync. rendered version is out of sync.

I've done 2 streams now. Both seemed to have streaming issues, Ie dropouts. (orange stream button) Where as OBS used to work without an issue on same settings.

I only switched so I could stream in 1080.. But that doesn't seem to be happening either.
