If I have custom made FMLE xmls (with more parameters defined, such as deinterlace, etc.), can i use them with the new Streaming option to start/stop only? Or there is a chance I might loose some of additional parameters defined in xmls?

Great work Martin!
Question: Is there a way to recover all my shortcut presets (I never exported them) or must I re-entre them all manually?

Dundurs,

There is a file called "profile.xml" in the streaming folder within the vMix installation directory.
You can customise this with any additional settings you would like in vMix.
Note that you can only modify the existing profile.xml file as it is in a special format, replacing it with a custom fmle profile will not work.

IceStream,

Have your shortcuts gone missing? The new installation should not delete them.

Martin

Hi Martin,

I notice that Lagarith encoded files with alpha channels still don't work correctly in vMix x64. I've got some longer intro sequences that use alpha channels and audio, so need some sort of solution here.. For now I'm running 32 bit, but I'm hitting the 4GB memory limit.

Thanks!
Grimble.

Hi Grimble,

I have tested lagarith with the file you provided with both 32bit and 64bit.
Check to make sure you have the latest version of lagarith installed including 32bit and 64bit versions
and the alpha box is checked.

Martin

Sounds like the settings might be corrupt on your drive in which case unfortunately there is no option to recover.

Martin,
No biggie, but does that mean I may have issues along the way. I have had problems in the past where changes made during a session (edit of shortcuts) would revert back to original preset settings, my work around was to remove the shortcut and add it again with the new settings.
On a related note, TAB key does not appear to be active for shortcut settings (never tried before now)
NUM Lock has given me issues in the past as it's primary function is still active
Also some keys seem to be missing and/or doubled in selection window (i.e. page up / page down and many keys that I am not sure which ones they even are on my keyboard)

I'm particularly interested in seeing if the RTSP issues reported above have been fixed.
I've tested Teradek Cube, Wowza Media Server, VLC and QuickTime Streaming Server

Hi Martin i am testing this new streaming feature to see how well it works.
I stream my Church Sunday service using this new feature straight to Ustream network without using FMLE.
It is a much needed and very welcome feature for me and I'm sure for others who stream live.

However what i notice though is that the stream keep pausing quiet often and the delay is very long between my PC pushing to Ustream and what is been played back live on my Ustream Channel.
But I know it is a work in progress and will get much better over time.
One more thing, when I press the authentication button, i don't if there should be some kind of response to say authenticated, but nothing happen until I press the start button. Just thought I'd let you know.
Thanks again for this new feature, keep up the good work.

Hi Watchfulone,

The delay is normal for FMLE streaming. If it is pausing make sure you have set the video and audio data rates to a bit less than
the upload speed of your internet connection. Too high and it will frequently pause or stop completely.

Note that the streaming just runs FMLE in the background, so these sorts of issues will exist in FMLE as well.

Martin

I noticed a regression today (or, what I believe to be a regression). When you have an RTMP input, on vMix 8 I could right-click the input window and say "Reset", which would close and re-load the RTMP stream with the same settings. This was helpful for me, in case a stream started bugging out and needed to be reset.

In vMix 9, if you right-click > Reset a stream, it opens some sort of file picker, which doesn't make sense for an RTMP stream. To reset streams, I have to close them and re-add them, which removes all the settings I had on the input.

hi martin,

thank you for streaming feature, it is so much apreciated here. this week it will be tested so we can use it on friday and sunday church services.

about rtsp, it seems to be not 100% yet, now i can`t play any rtsp source on both versions of vmix. it shows an "audio error" message in a red banner. remember that it was tested on w8 pro x64.

Click the audio error banner and send through the error report that appears.

I have the latest lagarith codec installed - I don't see a separate 64 bit option on their site, so I assume it's installed the 64 bit version as well, but I don't know how I'd tell..

In other news, I tried running an RTSP input and had stuttering audio, is there any specific bitrate or sample rate I should be using with AAC audio for RTSP streams?

Thanks,
Grimble.

*opened vmix;
*added rtsp source;
*it played well;
*closed vmix and opened it again;
*after click "last preset" the "audio error" red bar came back;
*closed vmix and opened it again;
*black source after added new rtsp input;
*closed vmix and opened it again;

Hi Grimble,

I think i've worked out the lagarith issue, go into the vMix settings and under performance make sure the video renderer is set to VMR9
as EVR does not support alpha channels for some reason.

For the RTSP input, do you have a public stream I can test? If not try increasing the buffer size in the Add Input settings.

Regards,

Martin

hi admin,

unfortunately, our rtsp stream is transcoded from rtmp main source below, so we dont have a direct rtsp stream to test:

rtmp://www.espiritosanto.cc:1945/ies_tv/ies_tv

now, i had increase buffer size from 300 to 800 and 1000 in vmix but it seems that "jump" forward so many times during play. maybe adding an auto buffer size tick option would be better to avoid wrong manual values.

about streming, what about to add the follow:
*audio source;
*audio codec;
*video codec;
*load xml fmle profile (for the users that have more than one profile);
*save to file;

it seems that is not so hard to do and this level of customization makes user a little more independent.

melody

Hi !

Great new features on the new v9 ! :)

but Martin..... consider the MXF recording file protocol :)
it would be most usefull for the the best video editing softwares out there.
it is the one of the most used broadcast standard in the proffessional world.

Best regards,

PFBM

Hi Martin,

You're correct, it's the EVR renderer that wasn't displaying the alpha channel. Selecting VMR9 worked fine.

I can't set up the same stream publically unfortunately, as it is generated for me during an event. I will try to reproduce the problem locally, but mine is also an rtmp source converted to rtsp with crtmpserver. I suspect the audio bitrate is fairly high, which might be the culprit. Note that I also had stuttering with a 3000ms buffer set.

edit: fwiw the software stack involved is OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) streaming a h264+aac RTMP stream to crtmpserver, which can output the same streams over RTSP.
