Hi, Is it possible to take a 4K picture, crop it to 4 zoomed 1080 cameras. Basically use one 4k camera to behave like it was 4 cameras inside Vmix? I know livestream has this function and I´m choosing between these two systems.
They also use this function on the Mevo system

Yes you can with 4K and pro edition of vMix..
Add camera as input and create 4 virtual inputs and crop and zoom accordingly..
Only thing, there is no automatic way of doing this at the moment..

The beauty of vMix, of course, is you can take the 4K camera image, create a virtual input and crop it to 1920x1080 (or any other size)... any portion of the screen, even overlapping portions.

Ahh! Great! checked Vmix forums but did not find any info, neither on any of Vmix Videos on youtube. Think this actually should be promoted and focused on.
Nice feature would be to have smooth-panning between different areas of the 4k video also and it would be a killer function.
Suddenly 4k cameras is da shit in streaming ;)

@ peterpan
Experiment with the "Merge" Transition for "smooth-panning between different areas".

@iceStream I´ll try it out, maybe in a future update of Vmix panning will be available. Seems like a core function when you see the possibilities.

@ peterpan It's the same principle that is used in a "Virtual Set". If you select your camera Input as your background, you can pan/zoom or cut to a preset area of the screen. A recent "Showcase" thread has some video links that illustrates this fairly well: http://forums.vmix.com/d....aspx?g=posts&t=6773The same functionality should engage if you make several "Virtual" copies of your original Input (which you can zoom/crop as desired) and "Merge" between them. Hi!
By cropping and zooming as you described in previous posts and having the output set to 1080p, the zoom is done from the 4k stream preserving the quality or from the 1080p output?
Thanks.

@alexandra.ort Yes I meant to preserve the quality from 4k and panning and zooming inside the 4k picture with prserved quality. look at this video to see what i mean.

@peterpan
You could achieve this in vMix by using Virtual Set.
Insert a Blank Virtual Set, click on Setup and use your 4K input as a background. Click on Camera then right click on each of the 4 windows to set your zooming and panning. Also you could insert another Virtual Set with the same 4K input as a background and set another zooming and panning area. Also, try Merge transition with it.

To use only 1 4k cam do i need to choose 4k master working resolution in vmix or can i work in 1080i? If i choose 1080i as working default resolution what happens to the 4k input? It will be downscaled before or after the virtual croping?

No. The 4k input is available to be cropped into the 1080 scene.
I've done something similar using a 720p base project with 1080p cameras.

Done in vmix with a static image, but I do this all the time with USB cameras. Including my Logitech Brio 4k running as 2k camera.
