As described, “PauseCountdown” does not just Pause the countdown, but also restarts the countdown if the shortcut is activated again. This may occur through error/misjudgement or keyboard shortcut key bounce.

Either way, “PauseCountdown” should pause the countdown always. Sports timing is mission critical. Single functions for each shortcut would be desirable.

“StartCountdown” already starts or restarts the countdown, and “StopCountdown” stops the clock and resets to the beginning as it should.

@ BETech

I like the functionality.
It is really a 'pause/unpause' toggle button (like a video play/pause button), which is the more desirable behavior from my perspective.
Perhaps a 're-labeling' is in order to avoid confusion.

@ BETech

I don't disagree with you and why I suggest a re-labeling might be in order.
(it took me a while to figure out the functions of each shortcut as it is, my point is, I like the toggle functionality, and given the current options, it's the only one that I use regularly)

While I see your point with having single functions, I think this is not really a bug as it seems intentionally designed like this.
When I walk around here pressing pause buttons on recorders and mediaplayers, almost all of them unpause when pressing pause when paused.

We consider that sort of functioning for the PAUSE shortcut as an error. It’s considered standard practice to have controls such as : PLAY, PLAY/PAUSE, PAUSE, STOP and so forth. Not PAUSE/UNPAUSE.

PAUSE should always be considered as a stand-alone function, or as an underlying function of PLAY. Given that the shortcut is defined as “PauseCountdown”, then it should perform the function as described.

On DJ Midi controllers, Play, and Pause are combined into a single button to operate as IceStream indicated. It's personally the way I would also expect it. Now, if it were a stop, I would expect it to freeze, and then a start to reset and restart it.

Have to agree with the majority. Not a bug. Works as designed! I also don't have an issue with the logic of the controls. It also allows the shortcuts to work with the countdown clock. StartCountdown; PauseCountdown; Stop Countdown.

Hi,

This is a naming bug actually as PauseCountdown works as a pause/resume toggle by design.
If the countdown is finished it will also restart the countdown.
(I.E it is designed to match the playpause button in vMix, if you press it when a video is finished it plays from the beginning again)

I would suggest a feature request for a new shortcut function with a different name that works exactly as you require as changing the functionality
of an existing function or even renaming it could mess up a lot of existing productions.
(Such is the challenge of backward compatibility!)

Regards,

Martin
