Magewell USB capture dongle latency?

A friend is trying the Magewell USB 3.0 capture dongle. He reports about a half second of latency, which is a problem. Is that typical?

Moreover, is it typical of USB capture devices? I use an AVer Media HDMI capture card (PCIe) which doesn't have as much latency. A couple of frame is what I typically see.

Half a second is definitely not normal, couple of frames at most, similar to capture cards.

May need to check device manager to make sure it is being detected as USB 3
