For those interested. This was asked for in the forums, so I thought I'd take a stab at sharing what I have done, but from scratch using mattes from google images. I used these 3 sources... I put these images in a folder, and imported this to vMix as a photos folder input and configured to loop and pushed play. This gave me a test animated luma mask. Next, I created an input for my background. In this case another photos folder with random birthday images. Again, I looped this input and pressed play. This gives me an animated background. Both of the previous inputs could be video sources if desired. Finally, I created an input of my foreground video content. In the settings of this input, I select the Color key tab, and then at the bottom, change the "Key/Fill Input" to the Luma Mask input. The white from the luma mask allows the content to show, while the Black blocks the input. Now, I can overlay this masked input over my background input, or select it as a multiview input for my background input. Here is the result... @sinc747, Tom, You should do this on Streaming Idiots!

The post above has one side effect when zooming, re-positioning the foreground image/video. The Luma Key mask is locked to the size of the image/video, and therefore moves/resizes with it. In the following video, the mask is inverted, and applied to the background image video, allowing the foreground image/video (actually the background) to show through the background (truly the foreground). Yes, Everything is flipped! Background is the foreground Foreground is the background Black is white White is black I am soooo confused! But the result is working!

I was playing with animated mattes to make custom wipe patterns and masks, it worked but was a bit of a setup. Having them integrated as transition presets using user made animated masks as a source would make it a lot easier. Similar to a stinger in implementation. A powerful feature the key / fill input in colour key. https://forums.vmix.com/....aspx?g=posts&t=6706
