As I see it there's two ways of doing it: you can either use a lightning cable to HDMI adapter and use a capture card or use an Apple TV and capture that via HDMI. Both should be fairly reliable. Especially the first option. You can then open the camera app on your phone.

Alternatively you can do a Skype call into vmix or see if you can find a virtual camera for iOS that works (I havent been able to find one that works well yet, but that might be our wifi)

You could try the program Reflector 2 (http://www.airsquirrels.com/reflector/features/win/) Works with windows or Mac, this is the windows link. It lets you send the video and audio via "AirPlay" and you can mirror the screen to the PC and Capture with vMix.

Normally i use the HDMI Adapter into an Intensty Pro 4K, but if I have more than 1 device simultaneously I use reflector.

tct40,

Screen capture from a second laptop into vMix really does work very well with Skype. I've done that many, many times. Problem may be with wifi over a large area. Wifi is just too unstable. When doing something like that outdoors I used the phone data provider for Skype caller and captured the Skype call on the second computer.

I'm assuming vMix can accept a RTMP source?
There'a a few apps that encodes and sends video as RTMP.

Example: "Broadcast Me"
