We have been using V8 beta for a few weeks now, and it is working great. I really like the ability to pull up the buttons from our second computer, so if our video person gets too busy with panning the camera, we can still trigger the transitions.
The only point that I think would be a really good change is in having more control over the file name.
When you have a years worth of video, you can't sort by title since it always starts with the day of the month.
Here is a screen shot of an audio program that lets you control how the file name is created.
This may give you a few ideas.
