Claims from a hardware manufacturer:

1. NDI offers better image quality than OMT due to its lower compression and consequently higher bandwidth.

2. OMT and NDI have almost identical latency, belonging to the same level.

3. OMT is adjusted based on image quality, at the highest quality setting, for the same border ratio, OMT will have higher bandwidth than NDI.

For me the bandwidth is not an issue as OMT is meant to be used on a local network so OMT should always output the best image quality possible. However it would be good thing to give users a "Custom bitrate" / "Compression level" -option to adjust the bitrate to their specific needs.

On the surface those claims do not make much sense, where did you see them?

I have seen some AI hallucinations making similar claims, so I would be curious to know what specific testing methodology (if any) the manufacturer used.
thanks 1 user thanked admin for this useful post.

Yes, the answers from the manufacturer are a bit confusing and controversial...

If we still get an answer from them we will ask.
