Hello

Can the VMix program receive data from another application via TCP server or UDP broadcast? My goal is to send from external exe to UDP broadcast JSON to the VMix application and display it as subtitles.

vMix does not support closed captioning inputs/outputs. But what you could do is to burn them into the video (open captioning) via a title and datasource. vMix supports JSON datasources and they can be hosted on any server.
Alternatively if you really need close captioning you could send your stream to a service and merge there with the JSON data. Services might be expensive. So check out nimble streamer that you can setup and have full control yourself.

Thank you for reply.

If I write data to an XML file and select it as a data source, if I delete or change the data in that XML file, will the subtitles on the live stream change or disappear?

yes, as you can see in

Note though, as mavik says, vMix does not support closed captioning.

They will update once the xml updates.
You can try with a simple csv file. open it in an editor and change stuff. Once you press save vmix takes the updates.
