Hello,
I am still getting used to Vmix after using OBS and Wirecast for quite a few years. I recorded an American football game last night using h.264HIGH at 8mbps using the hardware encoder on my RTX4060.
I am disappointed in the resulting video quality. I see quite a bit of blocking artifacts on fade transitions and a general smudgy look to portions of the frame. 8mbps with my older 1660TI Nvidia card using Wirecast or OBS resulted in very nice recordings with no blocking artifacts.
The recording settings are kind of sparce in comparison to the streaming settings where one can choose P7 for the highest quality. Is there anything I am missing? Vmix seems like such well put together software I would not expect sub-par quality recordings. I need to keep the recordings in MP4 as they are sometimes deliverables and file sizes need to be kept on the low side.
Thanks for your help!

You didn't mention what resolution/frame rate you're using, but H264 at 8Mbps seems really low, especially for something like sports where there's constant motion. I probably wouldn't go below 32Mbps for 1080p60.
This isn't something like a talk show where they're just sitting at a desk and barely moving.
Maybe try switching to HEVC and also bumping that 8 to something larger.
But no matter what you do, until you hit a certain point, your quality will be proportional to your file size. Even with the most efficient codec, the file can only get so small before you start running into problems like you're describing.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry, I did not mention it is at 1080p60.
But I did mention that I have been using 8mbps with Nvenc for years without any of the artifacting I am seeing in this week's recoding. While less compression is always better, 8mbps is plenty of bitrate to avoid macro blocking on cross fade transitions.
I am hoping to equal the quality of my previous software/hardware with Vmix and hoping that there are some more settings in the record area to achieve this.
