hi martin,

here goes the situations:

1. i find some drops on recording and flash encoder every time i need to use vmix in background, to see something in the computer;
2. using my cameras in hdv (pal 50fps) there`s some constant 4-7 drops. same drops using LAV to render hdv at 25fps;

what can i to have better results?

desktop settings:
cpu - intel i7 920
gpu - ati radeon hd 5750 1go DDR5
ram - 12go triple channel
motherboard - asus p6t

regards,
melody

Hi,

HDV is not recommended due to the many different MPEG-2 codecs available and the reliability problems that introduces.
(DV should be fine in comparison)
If you must use HDV, try using a different MPEG-2 decoder, particularly one that displays the cameras at 25fps rather than 50fps.
I can't offer any recommendations for codecs unfortunately.

I always recommend getting DeckLink/Intensity cards as these ensure the best performance and least dropped frames.

To stop other programs taking the vMix resources, in Settings -> Performance set Application Priority to Above Normal.

Regards,

Martin

hi,

at once, the "best" mpeg2 render i used was LAV, some fine settings, good performance and possibility to choose behind 25fps or 50fps but i think the problem is not exactly the framerate, the problem i have here is the constant 4-7 drops on both framerate.
i noticed too that "synchronize output with refresh rate" picked option interferes with hdv sources, them works at 30fps max when 50fps is selected.

thank you for your reply, regards,
melody

LAV will interfere as it uses CUDA acceleration which will compete with vMix for graphics card resources.
Please choose a decoder that is not hardware accelerated and runs at 25fps and untick synchronize output with refresh rate as it is only for XP.

thats ok, i`ll try another decoder. however i`m using windows 7 x64

edit: i founded this article with a "battle comparison" of diferente mpeg2 encoders/decoders/renders... maybe its interesting for you martin to implement a part of the "Intel® Integrated Performance Primitives" code on vmix.
