Hi

Noticed this behavior sometime ago and thought it might right itself with all the ver 14 updates. See pic below.

Using vMix 13 and 14.

The MP4 was recorded using version 14.0.0.? (cant recall) but has seemed to always have this problem.

Both systems setup to display 1280 x 720 PAL 50p

Any ideas or is their something that can be done to fix ?

Click the cog icon underneath the input in each version and compare
the information under the Advanced tab to see if anything is different.

Hi

Only diff is on 14 under the Frame Rate their is a deinterlacing textbox with "none" assigned.

13 does not have this.

Did you check under the Advanced tab? There should be a list of filters such as Video Mixing Renderer etc.

Hi again

Just a thought would the "Enabling custom AVI codecs" affect the display of this file?

Only diff I can see between both versions.

But I cant see a vMix64.exe.config.

EDIT:

Ok got it and changed but still the same

If I change the Settings to 1920 x 1080 50p it fixes problem but I need 720p.

I've just run some tests, setting up vMix as 1280x720 50p and doing a MP4 recording and then
bring that video back into vMix for playback and it all looked ok.

Perhaps there is an odd graphics card issue here, what graphics card is that system running? Is it the latest drivers?
(If so, what version?)

Hi

Its an ASUS G750JZ with GTX880M 4GB running Win8.1 the drivers are up to date. Will post version details later today.

But this also occurs on other machines. My old desktop is used to create graphics has the same result and its running an old 460

Why only on v14 and not v13?

Will do some more tests.

I tested on an ASUS G750 as well (GTX 765M). Maybe there is an odd setting that is different in vMix 14.
Could you email me your settings file (export it from Settings -> Export) and I will import it and run the following tests:

1. Create MP4 recording at 1280x720 50p
2. Add the recording back in vMix and play it back.

Sent the settings export to you

Graphics driver is 340.52 Rel 7/29/2014

EDIT ----

Updated driver to 344.75 Rel 11/18/2014 = no change

Ok so tried every other Output Resolution and Master Frame Rate resolution and vMix 14 displays the file correctly.

Tried other captured files and behavior is same for all.

i.e. Settings -> Output Size and Master Frame Rate - all ok except 1280 x 720 @ 25p / 50i /50p even tho the mp4 file was captured as 1280 x 720 50p or 25p

Is there something weird about my mp4 codec?

Here's the test I have just run, try the same thing and see what results you get.

1. Using provided settings export and NVIDIA Graphics Driver 344.75
2. Added new Colour input set to Colour Bars
3. Created MP4 Recording at 1280x720 50p 25mbps for 20 seconds
4. Added recording as input and played it back.

Screenshot of results attached.

Umm nope

But think I found solution.

Checked out NVIDIA Control Panel -> Program Settings and changed setting to Use Global Setting (see pic)

Also set Global Settings tab -> Preferred graphics processor to Auto-select

and correct rendering now appears in vMix.

So question - what setting to use to ensure that vMix uses the NVIDIA GPU rather than the integrated graphics?

vMix is NOT a 3D program, so modifying these options won't change anything. Or are you using 3D glasses to operate vMix? ;-)

Actually the 3D settings are important as vMix uses Direct3D for video processing.

I've done some research and your G750 also has integrated graphics alongside the nvidia graphics
while my G750 with the 765M only has nvidia graphics.

Unfortunately the use of integrated graphics alongside the nvidia tends to drag down the performance of both.

Auto-select is probably the best option for now you can also try downloading the latest intel graphics drivers.

Martin

Thank you Martin

Hope it wasnt a total waste of your time.

Have you been able then to replicate the same issue with the 3D settings?

Interesting subject.

Regards
Ash

EDIT --

So its not possible to force/coerce vMix to use the NVIDIA engine will the system default to integrated? Can this be controlled?
