Hi all,

I'm trying to bring in a video file (DnXHD in a .mov wrapper) that contains an alpha channel but vMix isn't seeing the alpha at all. I select 'Video Contains Alpha' when importing the file and I've tried turning on Premultiplied Alpha but nothing works?

Any suggestions?

I've only ever had alpha work on uncompressed .mov

See Martin's comments here: https://forums.vmix.com/...deo-transparency-in-vMix

I saw that thread, doesn't say anything about uncompressed files only. And the link that Martin provided is no longer active.

I've heard Martin say in a video somewhere that .mov files with an alpha will work. Doesn't mention codec though, just the .mov wrapper.

Have done it with .png before but surely vMix will support a video file with alpha?

Surprisingly, there is very little info online about this.

I know this isn't a direct answer but I recall that when my graphics department used to export content from Premiere they were limited on what codec they could use when exporting with alpha. I think it may have been ProRes.

I can easy export a Photoshop animation to a Quicktime Animation, direct in Photoshop. (file, export, render video)
It should be easy to do the same in Adobe Premiere.
vMix plays this well, with key.

download Animation-Video and PS file here

Sorry, my PS is in german.
animation export.PNG (204kb) downloaded 1 time(s).
