SRT works fine when using vmix on production side and smartphone with Larix Broadcaster/SLDP Player on the guest side. But how to easy set up SRT on guest laptop without vmix? Both send and receive video.

What speaks against vMix? The price? They have a back and forth channel.
Basic HD 1920 x 1080 60.-- USD

Why are you making your life so hard, just install OBS and set your stream destination to SRT address. Done in under 2 minutes and you also have so much more control over everything. I have hard time making OBS and vMix SRT friendly, but now it works very well. OBS is free and can send and receive SRT but it is not easy for every guest to use it like vMix Call. Alternative is SRTStreamer + VLC Player. Any other idea how to get SRT on the guest (laptop/desktop) side more easily?

Have you tried the larix broadcaster app. Everyone these days has a good mobile phone. The app is for free and can stream SRT into the studio. Another fit would be medialooks VT.

That problem not exist on laptop.

Quote:But how to stream out SRT from VLC at the same time? 2 VLC instances, one to stream out, one to receive return feed. I'd do it with FFMPEG (which is btw what VLC, OBS and many other SRT compliant softwares use in the background). There are many examples on how to do it on the internet. The OBS solution works OK too but will be difficult to handle audio for the out and the return at the same time Another solution is to stream SRT out from a smartphone with Larix... ... and get the return feed on the laptop with FFMPEG (Zeranoe builds support SRT from over 1 year at least) which is as easy as typing this at the command line shell (can be provided as a script btw) ffplay -i srt://0.0.0.0:PORT/?mode=listener Last but not least, vMix, either the free trial or the BasicHD version, will do it too

These two free programs are interesting: SRTStreamer and RemoteExpert https://garaninapps.com/srtI easily get it to work like this: RemoteExpert receive SRT stream and SRTStreamer send SRT stream to vmix. Works pretty well.
