Hi All,

In recent months, we have discovered a number of bundled pieces of software with laptops and PCs that
can interfere with the graphics card and cause problems with programs like vMix.

We've already taken steps to turn off GeForce Experience and Asus Sonic Suite (Sonic Radar),
but these are just the tip of the iceberg.

Enter: vMix Diagnostics Beta!

https://www.vmix.com/download/vmixdiagnostics.zip

This is a free utility that will do a quick scan to identify and report programs that run in the middle of vMix and the graphics card, potentially reducing performance and causing other issues.

Instructions

Download the above zip file and extract it to a folder on your computer.
Run the vMixDiagnostics program, optionally select the graphics card to use and click Scan.

Who should try this

Anybody that is experience flickering issues or high render times should give this app a try and see what it says.
Or if you are just curious if you have any software installed that might cause problems in the future.
This utility is completely non-invasive and informational only, so you don't need to worry about it disabling software on its own, that is up to you!

As always, your feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,

Martin

Strange thing. On my 17" laptop (nVidia 1070) no problem (just warning about BitDefender). On my 15" laptop (nVidia 1050Ti) it only sees the Intel HD Graphics 630.

Does it require a 64bit OS? Fails on a 32bit win10 install. Andrew.

On my ASUS ROG G751J - NVIDIA GTX 970M - Win10 Pro

No background Graphics Card applications detected.
The following applications may still interfere with vMix, but should not impact the graphics performance:

NVIDIA Windows WDDM D3D driver: (C:\WINDOWS\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nvami.inf_amd64_1474122a0ce2f241\nvd3dumx.dll)

On my Dell Lattitude E6530 - Intel HD Graphics 4000 - Win7 Pro

No background Graphics Card applications detected.
The following applications may still interfere with vMix, but should not impact the graphics performance:

NVIDIA D3D shim drivers: (C:\Windows\system32\nvinitx.dll)
NVIDIA D3D shim drivers: (C:\Windows\system32\NV\igdumd64.dll)

-- NVIDIA NVS 5200M not detected in vMix

On Optimus laptops you will need to right click the application and select run using the dedicated graphics
for it to see the devices.

Also, I should have mentioned, this is a 64bit only application.

On my MSI GE72 6QD I get

No background Graphics Card applications detected.
The following applications may still interfere with vMix, but should not impact the graphics performance:

Nahimic: (C:\Program Files\Nahimic\Nahimic2\UserInterface\x64\Nahimic2DevProps.dll)
Nahimic2: (C:\Program Files\Nahimic\Nahimic2\UserInterface\x64\Nahimic2OSD.dll)

Interestingly, some part of the Nahimic v1 software (that was pre-installed on this laptop) caused my NDI apps to crash when using the NDI v3.5.5 DLL, whereas NDI v3.5.1 had been fine. Took a while to track down what was causing the NDI crash, and that it was not something in the NDI DLL itself, but the crashes went away after removing the original Nahimic software and subsequently finding a newer version v2.321 which is what's currently installed.

Howdy...

I tried to download the new beta vMix Diagnostic tool from the link in the above thread, but when I do, Windows 10 says it contains a virus:

Trojan:Win32/Sprisky.U!cl

Anyone else saw this? Can the admins confirm it's ok?

Best,

Ben

A slightly updated version of vMix Diagnostics is now included with the latest vMix update.
Also supports 32 bit Windows.
