GO to Windows settings > Privacy > Microphone > Allow Apps to access Microphone (this should be set to ON) This change occurred in a recent Windows update. Martin may be able get around the need for that as I thought was only for Web Apps like Browsers and Store Apps

4K user here, I had to do the same thing, thanks for the solution! Hope they get it fixed soon, also, with the latest windows update, ALL of my sound settings got reset. I use virtual audio cable and windows decided it would be a good idea to reset all the bitrates. Fun fun fun, gotta love windows!
