Often External 2 is used for showing dedicated video for a projector screen in a conference while having different video from the main output, such as a sponsor loop, etc. Having them cut all the time is kinda annoying and distracting, I'd like to see an option for a simple dissolve transition on external 2 to make it visually appealing.

Having a mix function on the layers in a multiview would allow this using a full screen layer as well as building up the comp layer by layer with a series of dissolves.
There's already the cut function ie the tickbox.

It might but it would have to be preset would it not? I wouldn't be able to fade to a shot on the fly in external 2 this way if I understand you right.

The input / multi-view could be sent directly to Ext2 and then it would behave like a traditional M/E with mix/cut options on each layer.

Each layer within the input would have a mix function.

I'm playing around trying to figure out how that would work, I can get inputs on multiview to toggle on or off, so I'm halfway there, but getting it to fade is where I'm running into a challenge.

The fade function is the feature request.

An idea from Horbel in this allied thread -

`A trick to fake transitions would be to live control the pan/tilt/zoom/crop/ opacity functions of the inputs through API / scripts.'
