If my capture card supports a resolution such as 2k by 2k, can vMix allow me to set that resolution on my input device?

More specifically, I have a Magewell card which supports 2048 by 2048, can vMix support this input resolution?

Hi

AFAIK no.

vMix is a software for video production so it conforms to video resolution standards.

Hi Guillaume,

The production we are doing is for video projected within a VR dome. In essence, it is a video production. Nowadays, videos are no longer simply 720, 1080, 2160 etc. The resolution we were looking for is actually a supported resolution by a Magewell card (2048x2048) supported by vMix. Would be great a future version of Vmix could offer the resolutions supported the by capture card. Feature request :-)

don't want to argue but VR is not broadcast or webcast video which vMix addresses.

Make a feature request in the appropriate section of this forum if you want

Do agree it is a feature request, and will post in the appropriate section. That being said, tell Facebook, Periscope/Twitter and Google that VR is not a "webcast". Times are a changin', https://www.theverge.com...ced-neal-mohan-interview

VR and 360 video don't have much in common imho, even if the word VR is often misused for (bad) marketing reasons.

Well, 360 video maps quite perfectly to VR, which is 360 (VR content is typically based on square resolutions, rather than common 16:9 video resolutions, hence, video for VR is best suited in square formats). The combination of VR and video is really MR (mixed reality), but for "marketing" reasons, VR is simply a more mainstream term. People are still getting used to the VR term, no need to introduce a new one. Reminds me of the 80's, when people started calling video cassettes of movies, simply as "videos". I was confused when I first heard someone say, "I am going to the video store to rent a video". The term was confusing, but soon became the norm.
