Hi,

Just upgraded to latest vmix 24 and did some tests (windows 11 - TB4 BM mini recorder: all is well!!)

I did some start - stop - start tests and noticed only one recording in the recording directory. Did some more tests and found the previous recoring is overweritten!!

This has never happened to me before: I regularly stop-start recordings at an interlude or break / change - just to be sure the recording is saved and as a marker.

But now this would mean the previous recording is deleted!!

Bug? - Setting?

Note recording was in MP4 - HEVC with setting start new every 30 minutes (but only tested 1 minute...

cheers
Stefan

to add to this:
did a quick test and noticed I used capital MM for minutes (just at 2 minutes past the hour) - this should be mm for minuts otherwise it writes 02 for the month February.

Added a seconds counter (ss) to the file format - so now the file name is unique and the previous file is not overwritten.

STILL: this should be noted! a recording should never be overwritten without a warning! If you make a mistake with the settings then you might be in for a suprise.

So a file overwrite warning maybe?

Hi,

This is working exactly as intended.
Note if you change a setting, you should first understand what that setting does and test it prior to a production.

That's exactly what I was doing, Martin: testing prior to production.

I never understood it is intentional to have files overwritten in a stop-start action (if you do not give it a unique time code marker in the name). Overwriting files without warning is a risk, always.

anyway: thanks.

Warning in the manual maybe ;-)

it standard expectation because most other programs give that warning...
