We have built a new vmix systme and now to get video to play I have to reset the imputs 2 or three times before it will display in vmix.

we have updated the duo software and made sure we have the latest firmware. the old system that also had the same duo cards in it doe3s not have this issue. Is there a setting or some option I need to choose so that the software resets all the inputs on load?

Hi
we also had problems with the Decklink duo
every day, we must reset the inputs
with Decklink 10.8.3 it works much better (most time 3 to 5 days) without reset

There was a significative change from BMD drivers 11.4.1 and following.
Even for some others environment is adviced to use this version in place of newer ones for Decklink Duo 2 and Quad 2.
For a correct installation (either upgrading or downgrading) i suggest to uninstall the package, shut down the system (i mean cold start not reboot), then install new drivers, again cold start.
At this point it should upgrade the firmware on the board.
Then another cold start and do the BNC setup for your needs.

Ok I rolled the drivers back and still the same issue. To night I am going to try to load an older version of windows 10 to see if this problem goes away. With the old system I can unplug the bnc connector in and out of any of the interfaces on the card and the video starts. this one I have to right click and reset. Some times 4 or 6 times before I see video.

TIA
Josh

I never had luck with any of my BM cards....I have a Duo, and another model, but they only show 1 instance of t cards....these cards have 2 inputs, but only one shows up, and sometimes I get the error message 'No Device Found', even though I see them in Device Manager...I tried everything I was told on line, in many forums, and found that many persons get issues with BM cards especially with windows 10 machines...as everytime an update is done, it messes up drivers from other apps....

That's pretty strange, we have at least 10 different systems with Decklink duo 2 or quad 2 under windows 10 and they all work flawlessy.
May i know more details about the system?
Have you tried a different PCI slot, there are differences between them.

I used to have this problem with my Decklink Duo 2. It would take a few right-click/reset maneuvers for it to pick up the video. It hasn't been a thing for me lately, and unfortunately I can't recall what's changed on my system that would be considered the fix. I do update motherboard, graphics card, and Decklink drivers fairly routinely.

I do seem to remember that when the problem was more prevalent that certain standards were more prone to the problem occurring. For example, it wouldn't happen all the time at 1080p59.94, but it was a guarantee at 720p59.94. That very well could have been because the video coming into the Decklink was still 1080p59.94.

I was thinking of buying a Blackmagic Design Decklink Quad 2.

This thread is giving me second thoughts. I love Magewell, but they don't seem to have an equivalent card unfortunately with 8 SDI IN/OUT.

Maybe AJA is a better option.

I'm another DUO2 user that's never had an issue, seems like a solid piece of hardware. System specs for comparison...

Dell 3930/i9-9900K/32Gb/QuadroRTX4000
Windows 10 20H2 v19042.928
Desktop Video v12.0
vMix v24.0.0.56

Good luck finding your issue.

I don't think AJA makes an 8 I/O card. At least not in the Kona line.

Actually AJA do manufactur an 8 port card, it's under the development section called Corvid 88.

https://www.aja.com/products/corvid-88

Totally different price range by the way, and it's available through their system integrator's network.

Usually BMD Decklink cards works right off the box, on some systems you have to fight at the beginning, like manually deleting all instanced in system resources and be sure the firmware is updated when you install a different software package. PCI slot is also very important and availability of necessary PCI lanes counting all needs of the system.

thanks 1 user thanked fabfab10 for this useful post.

I had a similar issue recently with a usually stable system, with a camera input needing frequent resets. After some troubleshooting, I replaced the cable from the camera to the card. Fixed. If you've not already tried a new cable or cables, might be worth a shot.

This is a custom system. The camera going hdmi to a black magic converter that takes it from hdmi to sdi.

Asus prime Z490M-Plus board
32 MB of memory
M2 ssd

The card is plugged into the PCI X16 slot

Any suggestions on different cards that I can try wit 4 SDI inputs?
