A month ago on the US election night (nov 3) we managed to pull off a 4-hour livestream coverage of election returns with the help of vMix. Our biggest issue was the 20+ live guests that we had to manage with an average of 4-guests rotated in and out each hour. Because VMix cancels out the existing guest if someone connects on that same line (...we have 4) we needed a ‘green room’ to hold guests until we were ready to bring them in the stream. We accomplished this using Zoom, but it was a MAJOR undertaking. Can you guys please consider creating this feature? Others keep recommending Streamyard for this but we prefer vMix. Link to the election night livestream is below. Election Night Livestream

+1 Would be so needed. In November we had a presentation with around 30-40 callers. Was hard to manage this. One guy was doing this by Telephone, we could not reach him and was always kicking the actual speaker out, because we gave him the caller too early. While one was speaking, we did establishes the next 7 callers in background to treat them and be safe with the connection. Managed everything with Google docs (caller numbers, their name for lower thirds, title of the subject and so on). Hard work, a green room could make this much easier.

+1 for Green Room and Lock Call.
Major hurdle in moving our producers away from Zoom and over to vMix Call

we do several events and the ability to have a green room to manage presenters and do tech check is one of the main reasons we are still using zoom. if teams gets their Breakouts to work more like zoom and their NDI stable we will probably shift that direction.

+1, and amen to what BBergman said. Zoom Breakout function is working "adequately" for this, and it unfortunately works for most clients, even with the poor quality. It allows us to "green room" 20+ presenters and push them to different "ON Air" concurrent breakout rooms and Vmix control rooms once we get them connected and tuned. And they can lurk there all day if needed, and then be moved back into "On Air" rooms as needed. Teams has been a MESS lately, and likely will continue to have problems due to Microsoft system exploits that keep getting discovered. With the addition of Zoom callers to the already impressive vMix Call feature, the next step is a polished green room feature. While many of use are capable of creating our own green room using shortcuts and inputs with various video layers, adding a instant green room feature would add to the already impressive list of vMix features.

We should really push the braintrust at vMix to create this greenroom feature. Many other similar services including Streamyard, ECamm, and Restream offer some type of feature to hold guests in cue. We'd like to do another election night wrap for the upcomming 2024 U.S. Presidential election but trying to rig it with the exsisting vMix build is just too complex

There are ways to accomplish this by temporarily switching guests to a different bus and output but a built-in method would be far better.
It'd also be great to be able to switch between a grouped Zoom green room (so they can talk to each other), or isolating each guest into their own Zoom green room. Imagine a scenario where two opposing politicians are joining a live show for a debate – we probably don't want them sitting on Zoom, staring directly at their opponent, sneering while waiting for the show to start...

If vMixCall doesn't work for you, I can recommend two other options. Zoom MS Teams I have been working successfully with Teams as this is used by almost every corporation. The Teams meeting is the greenroom where all speakers join and talk. Enable NDI/SDI out and you can take the upcoming 4 speaker out via NDI with isolated audio. Epiphan offers this functionality over SRT out in the cloud if you don't have a Teams environment. In vMix I have multiple mixes going for the different targets. Live, Greenroom, Presenter confidence monitors, Attendee Screens in the room or whatever you need. With NDI webcam you can pick up these feeds with different computers in the network to split the load. Zoom is integrated these days and should work similar to a vMixCall and makes it even easier for zoom meetings.
Have you tried that?

Have you tried that? These suggestions won't work if you need people (and possibly a producer in the room with you) to be able to talk separately to the green room and live guests. While it's only limited to the 8 vMixCalls available, I have setup a system where the 8 can be individually put into a greenroom (where they can freely chat with others placed there) or put live (where they hear mix minus). This involves quite a lot of audio changes for each switch, but it works and is very flexible.
