There have been quite a few posts in this forum for similar requests with various solutions ( not for 40 mins but similar idea)

2. add a countdowntimer (GT Title preset is enough)
3. Go into the title editor from the timer and set it to 40 minutes
4. got to input 1 and under multiview pick any free layer and add the timecode, then unklick the checkmark before that timer (timer is now not visible when Input 1 is live)
5. Under input 1 settings goto trigger and add a trigger (On TransitionIn, StartCountdown, countdown input)
6. go into Countdown settings and add another trigger (OnCountdownCompleted, Fade, Input2) That's it. When you fade in Input1 the timer starts in background unvisible, when the timer is zero, Input 2 fades in. You can even see the timcode going down in the input thumbnail. So you know what time is left. Have fun
