Greetings,

It would be stellar if vMix had some sort of RTMP ingest functionality so that we could setup a local link from various hardware encoders without having to push out to the cloud and back or skip having to build a local RTMP decimated server box.

Currently you can do this in very convoluted ways or using a raspberry pi to create an RTMP relay or getting nginx up and running in win 10(a real challenge) I'd love to be able to in vMix, create a stream key and stream url to be able to push directly to and bypass all the other nonsense.

Just install Mist Server on your vMix host and you're done !

I know there are work arounds but I would LOVE for VMix to be able to offer it's own RTMP server.

Occasionally we need to accept streams from other studios, which usually end up being RTMP for us to ingest.

How have you done that in the past when you occasionally have to accept streams from other studios?
If vMix doesn't offer it, are they looking for alternatives, aren't they?
There are quite a few threads here in the forum about RTMP.

If my clothes don't get clean in my washing machine, I buy detergent because when I buy a washing machine, I don't have it with me.

RTMP is more on a phase out. Still very popular no question. But I would talk to them if they can't send a SRT stream. This is more reliable and build into vMix.

That's right. RTMP is no longer up to date. But there are still encoders that are in use.
I also have mobile RTMP encoders. This is how I can send RTMP Protocol over the public internet.
The Mona server is then between the internet and the vMix.
The Mona server only needs to be started and establishes a connection to the encoder. In vMix Stream / SRT - VLC (RTMP) and the connection is established. Unfortunately, the VLC has a higher latency. In Flash, the latency is less.

It's true, SRT is better, but with RTMP you can still use older encoders.
I also understand when an RTMP server is no longer integrated in vMix.
Next comes the RIST protocol anyway.
