Hi,

I want to key text over live video.

As a test, I created a power point slide with a black background and a white font.

Into VMIX, I loaded a video file and the powerpoint. I set the powerpoint to key over the video.

The problem is that there is black around the white text.

I do not know how to load images into this forum so I have put the images on my blog here:

I fired up the title designer.
It works and produces a nice clear result - Thanks.

Some observations:
1
White text is hard to see against the checkerboard background.

The text box drag handles are not obvious and hard to grab.
3
No grab to stretch horizontally when right justified.
4
If one sets the Text/alignment to Right then the cursor position gets mucked up.
To edit right justified text, Set to left justify. Click outside the text box. Then Click back inside it.

Is this to say that down stream keying PP does not work or is there a way to get my original approach to work. The advantage of PP is that before the event, I (or maybe a friend) can type in all the titles I need and during the event I can flick through them.

Ah. Yes. The green worked great. I then experimented and found that I could get the same good results with black.

The procedure I found to get chroma key to work with Black is below.
The green works more easily.

PP WITH GREEN BACKGROUND
1
Starting with all sliders fully to the left and all check boxes cleared.

Set the "Colour Key" check box (and note the aussie spelling)
Observe the Check Box colour square turns black and back on the VMIX output we get the PP slide green background and white text

Click the "Auto Chroma Key" button
Observe the sliders and things move and on the VMIX output we get the white text keyed correctly over the source footage.


PP WITH BLACK BACKGROUND:
1
Starting with all sliders fully to the left and all check boxes cleared.

Set the "Colour Key" check box (and note the aussie spelling)
Observe the Check Box colour square turns black and back on the VMIX output we get overlaid white text but with black fury edges.
3
Click the "Auto Chroma Key" button
Observe the sliders and things move and the chroma key output stops working.

Drag the Chroma Key Slider all the way to the left.
Wolla it works.
