Hello,

possibly a stupid question, but I haven't found an easy solution yet.

In a viritual studio, I have a main monitor and two small monitors. Suppose I have 3 guests and would like to jerk the active speaker into the main monitor, later switch the next speaker into the main monitor.

Is there an easy way to switch the sources in the main monitor and to automatically switch the previously active to the original small monitor.

So far I have opened the same studio three times, assigned the sources to each and jumped back and forth between the three studios.

Is there a way to toggle between the screens using buttons (e.g. 1, 2 & 3)?

Thank You!

Thank you!

But is that possible? The sources, positions etc. of the monitors are described in Config.xml and above that is the level with the monitor frames and above that the TalentA etc.

In addition, Multiview and I do not want to be friends because I do not know how I can save them properly for distribution.

I would like to be able to integrate and save the described functionality in the studio folder.

Your question was "In a viritual studio, I have a main monitor and two small monitors. Suppose I have 3 guests and would like to jerk the active speaker into the main monitor, later switch the next speaker into the main monitor.
"

and an answer was given. the answer basically is a replacement of the manual way to specify a input in your various virtual set locations

check out how to use shortcuts and specify inputs in virtual sets . vMix has tutorial videos about that (youtube)

the shortcut functions in your case mostly appropriate will be MovemultiviewOverlay and/or SetMultiviewoverlay

PS you posted 2 images , i assume to show the difference, but posted twice the same image

@ Andreas

Another option is to create 2nd and 3rd identical MultiViews (or Virtual Sets) except for who is in the #1 spot, as you have done, and use the Merge transition for a nice animated effect between them.

That currently seems to be the only possible solution for my request. The commands I#m looking for would have to act on the XML of the studios, but not on the sources. Because a monitor in my setting (see picture) can be a guest, a desktop capture or whatever. Guests can change in one broadcast, so the source will do. With what I could learn with your help, I can change the current source, but not the screens (monitors 2 to 1Main, 1Main go 2 and so on).

The functionality of the config.xml should really be more extensive.

Or am I wrong?

Thank you for your thinking and your time!

yes you are wrong , and you don't even have to touch the config file

you have been given the shortut function , you have Ice's option or you can do it manually too (it's simpler than you believe it is ). To make it even more confusing one can use mini MIX into the game ;-)

ps. one can have multiple shortcut calls under the same key!

Okay, I just can't get it.

I already approached Tim with this matter at IBC 2019 (a trade fair in Amsterdam).

It doesn't seem as trivial as your answer sounds, because I haven't got a clear answer from him.

I was experimenting with the shortcuts you suggested. Unfortunately, I did not come to the result that I was looking for.

Cheers

Hallo Digitaler Chronist,
Gute Sendung Gestern.

Screen1=Overlay5.
Screen2=Overlay6,
Screen3=Overlay7.
zb. Taste 1 = 5,1 Klonen, 6,2 Klonen 7,3
zb. Taste 2 = 5,3 Klonen, 6,1 Klonen 7,2
zb. Taste 3 = 7,1 Klonen, 6,3 Klonen 5,2
Somit wird beim jeweiligen Tastendruck jeder Eingang in einem anderen Screen angezeigt.
Gruss

Hello digital chronicler,
Good show yesterday.
That works with "SetMultiViewOverlay".
You have to create 3 shortcuts with the same key. (Cloning), with different configurations.

The first number is the overlay then a comma and the second number is the input of the video or camera etc.
In your ConfigXML (which I downloaded)
Screen1 = Overlay5.
Screen2 = Overlay6,
Screen3 = Overlay7.
e.g. Key 1 = 5.1 clones, 6.2 clones 7.3
e.g. Key 2 = 5.3 cloning, 6.1 cloning 7.2
e.g. Key 3 = 7.1 cloning, 6.3 cloning 5.2
This means that each input is displayed in a different screen each time the button is pressed.

Greeting

______

Hey elvis55, thanks for the praise, I will pass it to Thomas.

And many thanks for your response. The problem with "SetMultiViewOverlay" is that the command uses the sources. However, if the source has a different input number / name, the short cuts are not working anymore.

I was looking for a workflow where a short cut only change the screen arrangement but not the sources.

As already mentioned above, in my opinion the Config.xlm functionality should be more extensive or it would be nice if I could address a self-defined name of an VS screen position with a shortcut.

_____

Edit: Maybe i did a mistake. Will test it and come back with my result

MoveMultiViewOverlay
Example: 1,2 moves Overlay1 to Overlay2
FromIndex,ToIndex

Sorry, wrong, does not work

Use a standard name in the shortcuts, rename the inputs accordingly , or have them always in the same position (quickly drag them there)

Then do setzoom and setpan on the inputs themselves then

want to have more fun ? do it all with a script , read the input data and rearrange

I guess it would be more of a problem if it wouldn't !

As Doggy suggested there are many ways to overtake this logical behaviour, be creative !
