Hello Martin and forum members, I have done a series of recordings today at church set to MP4 format. After recording when I attempted to playback the most important recording of the three won't playback. Vmix input error says 'please install Haali Media Spliitter to play this file format'. I checked and HMS is already installed. I restarted the Vmix but no solution. I have also restarted the computer yet no solution. I have removed HMS and reinstalled but still no solution. Can someone please tell me what is going on. The other two files are ok. How come the most important recording has issues. I have not told the head pastor yet that the recording failed as I know he would be very distraught. Someone please help me out.

Thank you.

Hi,

How big is the MP4 file? Did it stop recording ok?
Can you send me the log file that was created with the recording?

Thanks,

Martin

Thanks,

Please install Media Info:
http://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo

Open up the MP4 file in Media Info then from the View menu select Text.
Then copy the results here.

Hi Martin, the same issue has happened again today on three occasions with last just been moments ago! All efforts to record today has been futile except for out of three recordings meant to be done today. Do I give up on Vmix or is it something else affecting the recordings?

Hi,

Can you provide the log file for each of the recordings?
Also, what is the system specs of your machine?

You may need to record to another format such as MPEG-2 for the time being,
there might be an MP4 issue with your particular machine.

Regards,

Martin

Hi Martin, here are two logs of failed recordings. I have always recorded in MP4 as that is the format preferred by the recipient of the recordings. I have never had issues with recording in MP4 and I wonder if changing to different format will make a difference.

Would you be able to upload one of these smaller recordings to a file upload service or dropbox and email it to us?

I just performed a test using mp4repair.org repair tool and it gave a compression rate of 100% which the site interprets as no video is file. The site explains that compression rate must be less than 50%. So it looks like I am truly toasted!!! I just have to prepare to go and face the music.

I will upload and send you a copy of the file as requested

Thanks,

It looks like the file is incomplete.
Are you recording to a separate drive or to the system hard drive.

Has there been any recent system changes or driver/software changes recently?
Was it working completely fine up until only recently?

Regards,

Martin
