HELP! I connected my X32 mixer to my PC and tried to change the audio output harware in vMix. Then I had to restart vMix. However vMix did not start anymore. Instead it seems to invoke some kind of installer. Unfortunately the "Preparing to install" window is displayed for ages and I cannot cancel this. Already tried to reinstall vMix, even after a full uninstallation, but this all did not help.
Anybody a suggestion of what to do now?
  Thanks, Peter.

Have you tried disconnecting the x32 and then attempted to open vMix?

It turns out that there is something wrong in the windows user specific data. When I create a new Windows user I can startup vMix perfectly fine. Hopefully some of the vMix developers can tell me which file in the windows user specific data I have to cleanup. I guess it's a temp file created to provide vMix startup parameters in case you make a change in one of the settings that requires a restart. Thanks, Peter.

                Hi,
The vMix application does not have any installer or other functionality in it at all, so it sounds like some other program or component on the computer is hijacking the vMix installation, you may be able to see this by running the vMix Diagnostics application.
  Regards,
  Martin vMix

Hi Martin, To run the diagnostics tool I need to run vMix first, but I cannot. During the vMix startup splash screen, an installer is invoked. I'm not sure if this is the vMix installer. It looks like an issue that is related to a very specific Windows user. Would you be able to tell how I can cleanup all the files that are created to be taken into account the very next startup of vMix (i.e. after a settings change was made that needs a restart) Thanks, Peter.

you can run the vMixDiagnostics.exe direct from the vmix program folder without starting vmix
