Hello vMix team,

I would like to request a feature where the vMix call input will automatically switch to black once the caller or the operator disconnects that input. It currently freezes on the last frame, which would require changing the multiview input.

The use case would be for live television production. During demos, clients found it unprofessional to have showing a still frame of a caller even if just for a moment.

Thank you,
Kris

It's the same for RTSP or similar inputs. It's the design of vMix I guess.
With a view from the other side you might just request a freeze frame if the call is interrupted unexpectedly. Then you at least a freeze frame and not a black.

I would say it depends on the situation.

Maybe a solution for you might be using the build in mini mixer for callers. Use the output of the mini mixer as source for the multiview. This way you can switch to what ever source you like without touching the multiview.

+1 I would also like a caller to switch to black when disconnected. maybe a tiny icon in a corner to indicate their offline and didn't just mute their video. id be willing to make this a global preset setting, rather than clutter up the growing right click menus on the caller input.

+1 And not only for Vmix Call, But also for SDI inputs, RTMP streams etc.. Now if they stop, the last frame is held. Which is nice. But had a few times that a source was disconnected, Still had the thumbnail, so switching LIVE to an input that is not there anymore..

A little Icon or change the Info bar With the input number and name to RED to indicate the source is not active anymore..

totally agree there needs to be an indicator of end of call.

It would be great to have it as an option to FTB or hold a still image.
A lot of times I use the still image just to take an output screenshot when building a template for people so they can see what it would look like, instead of having to imagine something there.

So yes, +1 on a FTB -OPTION-for RTMP and Calls and whatever else would otherwise leave a still image.

A really cool feature could be a trigger.... upon connection, fade from Input X to caller video ..... upon disconnect, fade to Input X

and in that case I'd have Input X just be a picture of the guest or something else. Lots of options.

A black frame or ''offline'' text, anything that clearly indicates disconnection

I think a black frame is not sufficient. Plus, how about when a caller connects? So I posted https://forums.vmix.com/...nCallDisconnect-triggers

I hit this as well. Some form of trigger when an input is not getting new frames or dropping frames would be useful, as well as some way of highlighting the thumbnail that the input isn't healthy.

A black frame or "offline" display would really help manage everything, especialy with multiple guests.

Martin if working on vmix call in 24, please please please add replace last frame with color fill (block or white). Currently the last frozen frame of caller degrades the professional impression during live broadcasts.
It is not always clear when someone is disconnected now. A real annoyance and as said, not very professional in current form.

Love vMix for most other features.
