Is there any way to change the file format of the instant replay export function to perhaps a much more user friendly mp4 format or am I stuck with mpg?

Glad to see I'm not the only one here looking for this. I was hoping to find something like "Add this ffmpeg command to this scripting window and Bob's your uncle", but I guess not. What we've been doing is setting up a dedicated folder for the resulting files, either locally or on the network, then using ffmpeg to transcode. I just discovered that I can encode using the GPU's internal video encoder while Instant Replay is still recording. Quote:ffmpeg -i D:\vMix Replay\export\yourfile.mpg -v:c h264_nvenc -b:v 20M D:\Replay MP4\yourfile.mp4 The benefit to this is that you don't pin your CPU at 100% usage like -v:c libx264 would. Ideally, in the Instant Replay settings, there would be an Export tag to allow us to export and transcode all in one go.

Please make the format something that can be read by FCPX.

I edit with Premiere and it is a total pain in the ass dealing with vMix replay exports.
We can't re-encode the exports using Adobe Media Encoder as it shows media offline.
Our workflow is:
Import files to Premiere, the files process and all show question marks. We delete all the imported files from the project and re-import them.
Is it possible that the replay machine could be set to use a codec that is not MagicYUV? (SpeedHQ by Newtek, the new vMix codec?) Or if there was a tool to fix whatever the problem is when importing to Premiere.
I tried using Davinci Resolve from Black Magic but it will not read the MagicYUV files.
Would drastically speed up our workflow.

Would drastically speed up our workflow. Well, we are using AME all the time for converting vmix Replay Exports to mp4. Keep in mind, that the MPEG2 format of vmix exported files needs to be scanned first, in AME as well as Premiere, before the media shows. This takes quite some time, since the replay files can grow to about 14GB when recorded continously. Actually, the MPEG2 file format is still quite nice, since it doesn't put a lot of strain on the CPU nor the GPU when recording. But it really would be nice to have the option of using different file formats (codecs) in a replay event list for playback. Knut

Seems this has been a LOOOOng overdue fix needed. I too keep hitting a wall over the reply function. You get all these nice highlight clips of your event...then cannot do anything with them. Premiere does not like the mpeg format neither does da vinci so you are stuck with a bunch of clips you cannot use...
Even the Vmix transcoder cannot seem to deal with the clips which really it should be able to.
The only work around I have found that is quick-ish (unlike rendering everything) is as soon as the event is finished I stop recording. Then make a new file call highlights. Then run all the replay clips again whilst recording them in a format I can use.
Not at all ideal given this is the whole point of replay function so hope Vmix can come up with a way to export the clips in a format that is usable

Same issue here. Worse to use than before. I have no idea what Premiere is doing, but it won't take the file right. If I open it in VLC first and THEN put it in Premiere it at least recognizes it as a video file. Not sure what VLC does to the wrapper or whatever. But then when I click to open it it wants to import it and if you just don't select anything and keep hitting import and ok over and over it loads some new folders in your project and then plays the video. I have resorted to converting them all in Media Encoder to h.264 first, but it is essentially recompressing them and they do lose some quality.
