<NOTE FROM UPDATE LOG added in version 20.0.0.51 * Added PTZ Focus support for cameras supporting VISCA over IP. (Includes NewTek PTZ Camera)

I just upgraded my PTZOptics 20x G2 firmware to the latest which is what is needed to run the NDI software upgrade. It seems that the "Focus" under PTZ settings does not work. I did not check this before I did the firmware upgrade. The tech specialist (Sean) at PTZoptics is aware of this as he tested it as well.

Hi,

As mentioned in the log, Focus support is only for Sony VISCA over IP compatible cameras at this time.
(Not to be confused with VISCA over UDP which is what the PTZ Optics cameras use)

There is a bug with the focus control in the PTZ Optics firmware which is why it is not currently supported, however we
are working with them to resolve it and will post a software update when it is available.

Regards,

Martin

Thanks Martin - should have looked closer. BTW they also have a bug in their browser controller that does not keep auto focus off when using the pan/tilt buttons - it does work OK using the remote.

I'm having trouble creating a ShortCut that will use PTZFocusNear to quickly blur out. I've got three shortcuts on the same xKey:
The First sets PTZFocusManual
The Second should set PTZFocusNear to blur out quickly... "Value" here is in docs as Value,Input, Value=Speed. I've been using 0 or 1 for first, and have no idea what to do the specify the entire value for the field. In "Tiggers" I'd been able to make it work by going Near for 500 ms and then stopping.
The Third sets PTZFocusStop

Another xKey Shortcut will set PTZFocusAuto so it snaps back in.

Anyone know what to do for the middle function?

That's a question best asked of PTZ Optics, don't you think?

I don't think so ... it currently works perfectly with Wirecast and Livestream Studio so it's a VMIX problem

New user, with a PTZO 20x, on the trial, deciding whether to spend $700 or not. Just ran into this issue which has been sitting here for (checks notes) 2 years. Should I be looking at other apps?

Personally, I would be looking at a hardware controller. Virtual controller tend to be sketchy no matter what.

It's a computer responding to a well documented peripheral. Or not, as the case may be. Nothing virtual or more or less hardware about it.

Any news? Got a PTZ Optics 30X NDI and having issues trying to control focus through VMix.

I am also eagerly awaiting this feature. I have setup vMix with PTZoptics in numerous locations for clients and all need the ability to save focus with virtual inputs.

Bumping this one. Still doesn't appear to work. Using older cameras that are now freaking out about AF and need more care and handling. This is very important going forward.
